Tuckahoe school chief to resign earlier than planned
The Tuckahoe Superintendent of Schools is leaving his post sooner than expected.
In a statement sent out Monday, the district stated Carl Albano's last day as school chief will be Tuesday. Albano has led the district since 2016 and was originally supposed to step down at the end of the June. Taking over for him on an interim basis is Amy Goodman, who serves as interim director of special education for the district.
Last June, Albano informed the school staff he was resigning at the end of the 2019-20 school year. He previously served as assistant superintendent for four years and principal of Tuckahoe Middle School for nine years.
He called it a "honor and privilege" to work as administrator in Tuckahoe for 16 years in his June 7 letter to school employees.
"I am extremely proud of the work we have done together," he said at the time.
Goodman previously worked for the Lakeland, Eastchester and New Rochelle school systems. She also was superintendent of the Greenburgh-Graham school district.
Albano will remain under contract and help Goodman during the transition period, according to the district.
