Shame to think there are people cowering in the suburbs, cleaning their guns, peeking through the blinds wondering if every person of color outside is Antifa. If you’re afraid to come into Denver because of talk radio fear-mongering, you’re missing out on a lot.

Never going downtown again and I have lived here my entire life. My children are 5th generation natives and they refuse Togo downtown also

So go ahead and clean that gun (safety first), pull up your blinds (your houseplants will thank you), and go on living life - inside and outside the city. It’ll be OK.

I was born in Denver in 1951, and spent the past 14 years in Phoenix and Austin. I feel a hell of a lot safer here than I felt in AZ or TX. Our city faces great challenges, but I’m so glad to be back.

Sorry to say - live in the suburbs and I'm a lot more afraid of neighbors like this than the fine people who live in Denver and make it a cool, interesting place to live. Luckily most of my neighbors have Biden and BLM signs in their yards.

I lived in Denver for 19 years, I understand what you're saying. I owned my own home in Denver until eventually I was gentrified. Can I come back?

Kyle, much of the fear rhetoric is extreme, but as a native to Denver there has been a big change in certain parts that should be cause of concern. This doesn’t mean Denver isn’t also great. It doesn’t have to be extreme v the other. Your twitter shaming is rather off putting

Yeah, I go to the Catholic cathedral on Capitol Hill. Big change to the neighborhood. I might stay away more as winter brings an early nightfall.

Hoping the free jazz concert in our urban neighborhood park isn’t an Antifa ruse to lure us out of our houses for an attack. Will report back later if we’re still alive. And if our hone isn’t burned down while we’re away.

I'm pretty sure that the "cowering" you're referring to is minimal. There are fantastic places to eat and things to do that don't involve people jumping on the hoods of cars or using a blow horn on them eating dinner. I'll spent my money and time not in Denver.

I’m convinced that you haven’t been downtown in months. Just a few hours ago I woke up to the sound of three gunshots right across the street from me. This is the new norm. So yeah, I will be well-armed to defend myself. I’m a person of color by the way.

So true. Spent three hours down there sitting senior pictures with my daughter. There aren't the crowds that existed pre-covid but it's still one of the best downtown areas in the country. That said, Hancock does need to permanently end urban camping as the voters directed.

I live downtown. People still walk their dogs, eat at restaurants, ride their bikes, have some drinks, enjoy the city. We've had a few rough nights...not BLM folks...idiot suburban kids looking for trouble. Tell kim to stay in highlands ranch or wherever

Pretty common knowledge that Antifa BlackBloc forces are not “people of color.” And while cleaning firearms, it is always best not to be distracted by things like looking out windows. Focus on the task at hand until done. Otherwise? Solid tweet.

How simple minded of you to broad brush people’s opinions. I commute into the metro area from NOCO weekdays to work. I use to go into downtown, the Stapleton area on the regular, I’m just no longer interested in spending my money where it really isn’t welcoming.

I keep my guns, all of them clean, loaded! Alabama is a "Stand your ground State and our homes are our Castle" I only need to fear for my life and protect my home!

I'm a Native American Latino born & raised on the West Side of Denver, where I still live. I went downtown a few weeks ago and it was the first time in my entire life I felt uncomfortable in Denver. Its not just suburbia, many of us in the city aren't going back downtown.
