Maui County Mayor Michael Victorino says he understands the reasons behind the decision and is concerned about the impact it will have.

The Mayor released this statement:

"These communities have limited access to resources and rely on 'Ohana by Hawaiian for everything from medical appointments to essential goods. We will be working to ensure there is necessary support and assistance for our Moloka'i and Lana'i residents."

With 'Ohana by Hawaiian service suspended Mokulele Airlines is adding service between to Molokai and Lanai starting November 1.

Mokulele Airlines released this statement on Friday:

"There will be no changes in our fares as a result of this, and we are committed to ensuring enough seats to fill the demand each and every day."
