This movie captures the zeitgeist of the turn of the millennium perfectly. The cyberpunk multicultural hyper capitalistic setting, the characters and society itself constantly running to avoid consequence and the weight of the past, and the shadow of terrorism and government coverup are themed perfectly in the soundtrack, animation, and genre-bending. While the plot itself is shallow, and the movie is quite indulgent especially in pop culture references, it is truly an achievement that will not be replicated soon.
