On Sep 25th, KuCoin Exchange was temporarily compromised and over $150M across various tokens were stolen. Included in this amount were 14M AMPL, accounting for about 10% of the circulating supply.
A contract upgrade was quickly deployed to disable transfers from the attacker.

This occurred at 9PM Pacific Sep 25th. All of the stolen AMPL remain locked in full.
Thank you for your support and understanding.

Are you going to give reasons for doing this? There are of course obvious ones, but isn't this against the decentralized goal anyway?

Oh my bad, it is $14m for crying out loud.

$AMPL makes sure that the only people that can dump on their community is the team and their investors
please don't dump on us

10% of the circular supply could indeed send a fledgling money experiment into a death spiral. If this is the case, a strong consensus is what matters most to the currency. It strikes me that this is in the interests of the investors behind it, not the community. Boo-boo

So you're telling me the govt can easily strong arm you guys into blacklisting addresses of certain people who the govt doesn't like?
Nice, thanks for exposing yourself as fully under central control. To save 10% of supply u pulled something that utterly destroys the USP of ampl

Does Ampleforth have any plans for burning the openzeppelin uFragments proxy keys so that the primary contract is truly decentralized?

Put simply: When does Ampleforth become a real coin?

Although most of the "people" here are obviously fake accounts and just spreading FUD, I would like to point out that the team announced long time ago that they are still able to modify the contract. Shouldn't come to you as a suprise if you have done any research.

Looking at the bright side, at least the criminals know only to steal the good stuff from kucoin and left all the shitcoins behind

also rip that account, no way he's going to be able to withdraw anything now, and what he sent into other exchanges for a deposit will be denied, lol

A sad day for crypto. With so many positives surrounding Kucoin recently, its unfortunate that incidents like this will generate far greater main stream publicity than the hundreds, if not thousands of good things that it has going on

Props to the AKRO team willing to be of assistance and KuCoin team for being transparent and aboveboard. $150 million, quite a blow for Kucoin

last i checked, kucoin has never been in the news with hack related issues (except that this was its first), they are hands down the most stable exchange I used for about years now

Nice to see project teams cooperating with KuCoin to get through this. only option for the hacker now would be for him to work with Kucoin, confess how he was able to breach its security and ask for a ransom and return the money.

that would actually be kind of impressive.
