Compact Flash card and FAT32 IFS - part 2

Hello,
  os/2 v4.50 fp3
  fat32 ifs v.0.9.13 [ifs=c:\os2\boot\fat32.ifs /cache:2048 /h]

After convincing os/2 that a USB drive exists, I later transferred a
number of image files from the CF card to a hard drive. No problem there.
What has arisen is that files cannot be deleted from the CF card.
Entering "del n:*.jpg" (or any other similar pattern) results in the
illusory action of deleting files, i.e., there is bus activity, time
passes as though something actually happens, but in reality no files are
deleted. There does not seem to be any way to delete the files from os/2.
  Any suggestions?

I have seen that, quite a while ago. As I recall, CHKDSK x: /F cured
the problem, but only temporarily. The actual cure, seems to be the
newer USB support. The base drivers, and the MSD support are now at
10.162 (according to eCSMT).

FWIW, I use an SD card, in a Lexar Jumpdrive Trio, that is formatted
as FAT32 (by DFSEE), and I haven't seen any problems, for a long time.
That may be because I have the latest USB support, as supplied by
eCSMT, but I also don't load the FAT32 cache program (just REM the
line), although it does seem to work, most of the time, when I have
tried it.

Yes, I have those drivers. Next time I transfer some images I'll try chkdsk.

How are you doing the delete? I tried from FS/2, and it was a no-go.
I opened a command prompt, changed to the drive, and deleted without
any problem.

I normally use the "mv" command, a unix-ish utility. When that failed, I
tried the regular "del" command, and deleting the files from a drive
object on the desktop. None of those worked at the time.
Just to make this murkier, I recently transferred some image files using
"mv" and it worked as expected.

Ah. Maybe it is because I did not start <cachef32.exe> this time?

Compact Flash card and FAT32 IFS
Hello, os/2 v4.50 fp3 fat32 ifs v.0.9.13 [ifs=c:\os2\boot\fat32.ifs /cache:2048 /h] I recently got a new Nikon camera. It came with an 8GB compact flash (CF) card. The camera formats it with the FAT32 filesystem. The CF is accessed with a multi-format card reader attached to a USB port. Other CF cards, 1 GB and less, that are formatted FAT16 are recognized without a problem. os/2 cannot determine the filesystem, FAT32, for the 8 GB card. The drive is mounted and assigned a drive letter (N:). However, "SYS0026: The specified disk or diskette cannot be accessed."...

Problems with USB 2.0 compact flash card readers and large capacity cards?
My dad mentioned to me that he'd heard that there was some sort of systemic problem with Mac OS X dealing with large capacity (1GB+) compact flash cards in USB 2.0 compact flash card readers. I'm certainly having such a problem now. The card reader I just got (CameraMate Hi-Speed CompactFlash & Microdrive Dual Digital Media Reader/Writer; see <http://www.ziocorp.com/products/CameraMateHSCF_body.html> for more details) mounts a 64MB and 256MB card just fine, but only mounts the 1GB card sporadically. I have an iBook G4 running OS X 109.4.3. Any suggestions as to why this...

Compact flash cards #2
Hi guys. Is there something I've missed? I'm trying to use a 64 mb card made by Dane-Elec in a Psion 5MX but when I click over to "D" drive, all I get is a message saying "Disk not present". Is there a particular brand of card you are meant to use? Is there a limit on the size of the card? Cheers for any info, Steve Have you tried turning the card over? I had a Dane Elec 128 Mb card that wouldn't work in my 5mx but was seen in a MC218, camera, and every other CF device I tried it in. There are occasionally cards that show this problem (of various ...

Palm OS device that accepts Compact Flash cards?
I'm wondering if there is such a thing as a palm OS device that works with Compact Flash cards. Compact Flash cards seem to be the cheapest storage cards around ($70US for 512MB on EBay) and since I'm gonna need tons of storage (about 500MB of text, plus as many MP3s and games as I can fit) I would like to have something that's cheap to add storage to. Thanks, Harry P.S. If you know of a storage format that works with palm OS devices that's even cheaper or the same price please let me know. Thanks again. -----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- ht...

USB flash card reader for 2.2 kernels?
Hi, I've got a RedHat 6.2 system updated to kernel 2.2.24. The usb-storage module doesn't support most modern USB card readers, it appears. I have a PQI Travel Flash card reader, and although the Travel Flash is recognized, linux thinks my CF cards are always write-protected. I need to be able to read/write CompactFlash cards with this system, somehow. Can someone recommend a current model of card reader that would still work with a 2.2 kernel? From running "strings" against the module, it appears the following card readers are supported: Sandisk Imagemate (SDDR-01 and ...

OT: OS/2 or OS/NOT-2
Wow-- I've been *trying* to play with OS/2 Warp 4, trying to get on the internet. I'm very familiar with Windows (of course) and Linux-- OS/2 on the other hand, that's a different story. Getting this thing on the internet has been a pain. It works, finally. :) Now-- I realize that I'm basically stuck in the DOS age when it comes to dealing with files, like one of the most rudementary types of files-- zip files!!! Is there not a Winzip/WinRar-like app for OS/2? Can someone lead me to the light? What stuff do I need to put on this thing before it's eve...

Migration of OS/2 1.30 to OS/2 2.0 or newer
Hi all, what is the chance to upgrade an OS/2 1.30-system with LAN manager (ethernet with plain NetBIOS), a C-written frontend and a Sybase-SQL-server 1.1 to a newer OS/2-version? The system is installed on a FAT-drive, print-jobs are created by the C-frontend for LaserJet-printers and send directly to the LPT-port or a shared LPT-port on a print-server and several OS/2 1.3-clients access the database also via the C-frontend. I would perfer using WarpServer 4 based on Warp 3, or even just Warp 3 Connect/Warp 4 (without LVM, JFS etc., so WSeB, ACP, MCP or eCS are not an option) the wh...

Compact Flash Cards
I have just bought a Psion Series 5, and am slowly finding my way around it. I noted that it was supposed to use standard compact flash cards, so I went ought and bought one with 8MB capacity, actually supplied by Canon with one of their cameras. Most compact flash cards nowadays, of course, are much larger than that, and I didn't know how much the psion would recognise. Anyway, I put it in the computer, went to "Information" on the systems menu, went down to "Disk information", changed to "Disk D", and got the message "Type Not Present". ...

Compact Flash Card
I have a 256 MB CF card, but i have problems to restore my files on it. When i choose a cluster size of 4096 i can restore files until about 215 MB remain free. Then the error " error writing on disk" occours and i only can stop the restore. With a cluster size of 8K the same error occours when 180 MB are still free. I formated the CF with the psion internal programm and with the disk utillities, but did not succeed. Can anyone give me a hint ? PS/2 and OS/2 #2
Hi ! This is, finally, *in topic* ;-) I've got too many "off topic" warnings ;-) I've got a working copy of OS/2 warp 4 (thank you, guys !). I can put it in my 8595-ONG with TurboChip only :-( Do you have a table that summarizes PS/2 models, the OS/2 version that can be installed and sys requirements ? In other word, for example, which version can be installed on a Model 80-386 ? What is the minimum ram ? Do you ever tried OS/2 2.1 for windows ?
