Beep symptoms are tones or a series of tones separated by pauses (intervals without sound) during POST.

Solution
The following table below describes the beep symptoms for ThinkCentre systems:

BEEP MEANING |
SUGGESTED ACTIONS |
3 short beeps followed by 1 long beep. |
Memory not detected. |
Investigate memory subsystem. Ensure that any memory module(s) are properly seated in the connectors. |
2 long beeps followed by 3 short beeps. |
Video card or on-board video not detected. |
Ensure any add-in video card is correctly seated. Ensure on-board graphics (which may be contained in the CPU) is enabled and functioning properly. |
4 long beeps and Error 8998/8999 on the screen. |
Not enough shadow RAM resources or PCIe/PCI MMIO resources available. |
Remove some add-in PCIe cards to free up necessary resources or change BIOS to UEFI mode to support additional available resources. |
2 short beeps. |
POST Error. |
Review the POST error on screen and take appropriate action based on the POST error code. |
