The stalks are passed through a fire of burning eaglewood, offered to the goddess of agriculture (Po-Nagar), then hung in the house until the next year's planting, when they will be sown in the three furrows mysteriously plowed during the night.

"At the flowering season and at harvesttime, sacrifices are offered when the stalks in the field are tall enough to "hide the doves." The deities are invited to taste the offerings, while the man cuts three stalks of rice and wraps them in cloth.

here are Vietnam and its Sinic culture, not defeated Champa and its destroyed Indic culture. Sure there still exist some Cham relics here and there in central Vietnam and they are tourism magnets. But their impact just ends there and hardly anyone cares about Cham culture except

subjugated by our ancestors and then assimilated into Vietnamese culture and society. After being decisively defeated in 1471, Cham people were massacred, the rest were taken as slaves and forced to marry Vietnamese and assimilate into Vietnamese society. So the influencing ones

"Mainstream Vietnamese history doesn’t recognize Champa and other Indianized kingdoms in today’s southern Vietnam as part of it. Rather they are viewed as barbarians (courtesy of the exclusive, Sinocentric mindset inherited from the Chinese) and foreign entities which were

Po Bya Tikuh is the goddess of harvest, mouse and food, so I assume she is same as Lakshmi while Po Yan Dari is the goddess of disease. She's mostly likely the physical manifestation of the sacred kraik (Nagakesar) tree, which is holy to Chams.

She is considered a manifestation of the earth and a source of life. Chams believe they are descendants of the goddess. She has ninety-seven husbands (I assume all are manifestations of Po Yan Amo/Shiva(?)) and thirty-eight daughters, among whom Po Bya Tikuh and Po Yan Dari.

An idol of Yan Po Ino Nagar (Devi Bhagavathi). She is called "Yang Pu Nagara" in Cham inscriptions, "Ino" meaning mother. Called "the great one", she was born from sea foam or clouds. She brought rice to the people and protects their fields and harvest.

This isn't true. Cachar Plains was predominantly tribal (albeit sparsely populated) until many Bengalis were brought in by the British in 1835 for increasing revenue. Karimganj was always part of Sylhet Goalpara looks "Bengali" on paper because Kamatapuri is counted as a dialect

It is not Bengalis from WB who are going to Assam. It is a few Bangladeshi refugees who fled to Assam. Barak valley of Assam was [and is] a Bengali region, and those who had relatives there fled there. To put things in perspective. Bengal has taken ~1 crore Bangladeshi Hindu+

Mahadevi ? (replica), Shiva Lingam, and Shiva as the dancer (Nataraja). After Tamil merchants left China, their temples came down to ruins. These stone carvings were reused by local Buddhists, who worshipped them as Buddhist or Daoist deities.

And this guy calls himself head of some Hindu organisation lol. Hindus and Sikhs can visit Muslim shrines but not the other way around. Also, apparently the SC which gave the verdict based on archaeological proof is still incorrect for these so called "Hindus"

This summer I received a grant from the @pulitzercenter to investigate how shared sacred spaces in India (Sufi shrines, aka dargahs) are being affected by rising polarization and religious tensions. Read my piece in @scroll_in to find out what I learned: scroll.in/article/949596

What kind of ‘liberal’ will compare the wearing of burqa with sati? And to think such characters and their pretend concern are validated by some Muslims & they get to speak on the community’s behalf.

If you want to convert that bad, why don't you go ahead? But it won't alter the fact that Hindu Americans are becoming more conservative when it comes to their faith. And I'm pretty certain "Mandalaparthy" is a Telugu surname, so high chances this one is a ricebag already.

It's easy for us as individuals to simply stop identifying as "Hindus," to stop going to temples or community events... but while we do that, these orgs and institutions are just amassing more and more wealth and power. So how do we actually intervene to stop this?

Noticed this weird thing about Vietnamese history. When a Kinh princess from Dai Viet married a Cham king, she became a queen. But when a Cham princess was given to a Dai Viet emperor, in most cases she was taken as a concubine. Kinhs always considered Cham Hindus inferior.

Very sad. Explains why Vietnamese friends have hardly heard of MySon. There's talk of Cham curse that caused Vietnam wars: Cham princess working as maid in Viet home impregnated by master, and her son was South Vietnamese top shot. Then there was Buddhist hating Madame Nhu.

Khalistanis spend their time outraging on social media instead of fixing the insanely low TFR of Sikhs. What's the point of fighting for a nation that won't even have many people after a few generations?

It's not just Indians but even Indonesians who mix their religion and nationalism (excluding Abrahamics obviously)

The Indian government told them to lay down their arms like Shanti Bahini in Chittagong Hill Tracts. What happened next was settler colonization to alter the demographics in favour of Miyas.

In the 1980s, a demand was raised for Bangabhumi ( a separate independent land for the Bengali Hindus in Bangladesh). The reason being Bengali Hindus treated as second class citizens. Accordingly, a flag was proposed and Banga Sena was founded.
