Hampton City Schools Superintendent Patrick Russo has accepted a job as superintendent of Henrico County Public Schools.
Russo, who has been with Hampton since 2004, begins his new job July 1, according to an announcement on the Hampton City Schools Web site.
Russo has 23 years of experience as a school superintendent in New York, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia, the site says.
Russo posted an announcement on the site.
"It is with mixed emotions that I accept this position but after much discussion and prayer, we decided this opportunity would be in the best interest of my family at this time," Russo wrote. "I cannot tell you how difficult a decision this was because of the wonderful people and experiences I have had working in Hampton City Schools over the last five years."
