Indian and Hindu clearly are synonymous when it comes to culture. The Chinese use both terms to refer to Indians and their religion. But groups like Muslims and Christians clearly don't identify with being culturally Indian.

Please don't say Indian Muslims chose India. We didn't. When partition happened, our ancestors simply stayed put. Some did so despite threat of violence. If God himself had asked us if we wanted to be Muslims in India, we'd say no and ask to be born in some other country.

Are you asinine? Temasek is of Austronesian etymology, not Sanskrit. Renaming a place in India as McCluskieganj didn't make it a Scottish place. Changing the name of a place doesn't alter its past. Also, Champa and Vietnam are not synonymous. Kinhs are not Indianized.
