The Economist article you cited was published in November 2017. The paper I cited from JSMU was published in December 2017. This is from NHFS, India 2015-2016. Share is down in South India and rising in North because of rising % of Muslims. cambridge.org/core/journals/

Bangladesh literally has 20 percent positivity rate and much lesser tests(per million-7200 and overall 1.2) and Indonesia has done only 1.5 million tests with only 5616 per million India-20 million tests 14627 per million with 9 percent positivity rate

Here's a paper from the Jinnah Sindh Medical University, Karachi published in 2017. Consanguineous marriage rates at 70%. ijcmph.com/index.php/ijcm The rate is even higher than the one in the diaspora.
