The Economist article you cited was published in November 2017. The paper I cited from JSMU was published in December 2017.
This is from NHFS, India 2015-2016.
Share is down in South India and rising in North because of rising % of Muslims.

I didn't even realise that he was actually passing off Pashtuns living in Mirpur as Mirpuris
Surnames ending -zai are typical Pashtun clan names. Bashir seems to be a common Pashtun surname like Khan as well.
