 "世界コスプレサミット(通称コスサミ)"は2003年に「名古屋」で始まり、今年の夏で18年目を迎える世界最大級のコスプレの祭典です。

The "World Cosplay Summit" (abbreviated as WCS) is the largest cosplay festival in the world, which started in 2003 in Nagoya, and is celebrating its 18th edition this summer.

"World Cosplay Summit" (abreviada como WCS) es el festival de cosplay más grande del mundo, el cual inició en 2003 en Nagoya, y celebra su 18ª edición este verano.

 今では世界40の国と地域から30万人が集まる国際的なイベントです。しかし、コロナ禍の影響で18年続いてきた世界コスプレサミットが存続の危機にあります。

今までコスサミを支えて下さったスポンサー様が軒並みにこのコロナの影響を受けてダウン。(その多くが航空会社や観光産業の皆さま)

2020年はオフラインでのイベントを中止しました。このままでは、今後のイベント開催が出来なくなる可能性が非常に高いです。

Right now it is an international event with the attendance of more than 300,000 participants from 40 countries and regions. However, the continuity of the 18 years of history of the World Cosplay Summit is in danger due to the effect of the coronavirus crisis.

The sponsors that had been supporting the WCS until now are also suffering the fatal consequences of the coronavirus one after each other. (Most of them are airlines or companies in the tourism industry)

In 2020, the actual event had to be cancelled. If nothing is done, very probably it won't be possible to celebrate the event again.

En la actualidad, es un evento internacional con la asistencia de más de 300,000 participantes de 40 países y regiones. Sin embargo, la continuidad de los 18 años de historia de World Cosplay Summit está en peligro debido al efecto de la crisis del coronavirus.

Los patrocinadores que habían estado apoyando a WCS hasta ahora también están sufriendo las consecuencias fatales del coronavirus, uno tras otro. (La mayoría de ellos son aerolíneas o empresas de la industria del turismo)

En 2020, el evento tuvo que ser cancelado. Si no se hace nada, muy probablemente no sea posible volver a celebrar el evento.

しかし世界にはコスサミを愛し、毎年の開催を楽しみにしているコスプレイヤーが大勢います。 そこで、2021年以降のイベント継続の為にクラウドファンディングを実施することを決意しました。

If nothing is done, the WCS will disappear. . .

However, there are many cosplayers all around the world who love the WCS and keep waiting for the celebration of a new edition every year. This is why we have decided to carry out a crowdfunding to ensure the continuity of the event from 2021 onwards.

The backing obtained this time will be used for the following purposes.

"Your Cosplay Picture at Nagoya International Airport Memorial Mosaic Art!"You earn the right to participate in the World Cosplay Summit 2020 Memorial Support Mosaic Art made by ten thousand persons! Your picture will be together with the pictures of backers from all over the world to create a single image! The illustration used as the base for the mosaic art will be a WCS original background created for this occasion as a special charity work by Osamu Masuyama, a background artist famous for his participation in many works including some from Studio Ghibli.

The completed mosaic art is to be sent in digital form to the backers, and also a large-sized print will be exposed for several years as a memorial at the Chubu International Airport, the gateway to Nagoya. Cosplayers are welcome to participate with their pictures of cosplay at home. Of course, non-cosplayers are also welcome to participate.Wear your favorite mask - a symbol of the year 2020 - to be a part of a special collaborative project.

 "世界コスプレサミット(通称コスサミ)"は2003年に「名古屋」で始まり、今年の夏で18年目を迎える世界最大級のコスプレの祭典です。コスプレの聖地名古屋で約1週間にかけて、大須商店街を使ったコスプレパレードや、名古屋のシンボルであるオアシス21でコスプレイベント、また、世界ナンバーワンのコスプレイヤーを決める世界コスプレチャンピオンシップなどが開催され、名古屋の夏を盛り上げます。

The "World Cosplay Summit" (abbreviated as WCS) is the largest cosplay festival in the world, which started in 2003 in Nagoya, and is celebrating its 18th edition this summer. The festival takes place over the course of a week in Nagoya, the motherland of cosplay, and spices up the days of summer in the city with activities including parades at the Ōsu shopping district, cosplay events at the symbolic location of Oasis 21, or the World Cosplay Championship, a contest to crown the best cosplayers in the world. 

 "World Cosplay Summit" (abreviado como WCS) es el festival de cosplay más grande del mundo, que inició en 2003 en Nagoya, y celebra su 18ª edición este verano. El festival se lleva a cabo durante una semana en Nagoya, “la tierra del cosplay”, y adorna los días de verano en la ciudad con actividades que incluyen desfiles en el distrito comercial de Ōsu, eventos de cosplay en la ubicación simbólica de Oasis 21, o el World Cosplay Championship, una competencia para coronar a los mejores cosplayers del mundo.

新しい国際交流を創造するため2003年に名古屋で誕生した世界コスプレサミット（WCS）。毎年WCSを開催するたびに海外からの加盟数は増え続け、いまや40もの国・地域がWCSに関わるほどに成長しました。

The World Cosplay Summit (WCS) was born in 2003 in the city of Nagoya, with the purpose of creating a new international exchange. The number of participants from abroad has kept increasing with every edition of the WCS, year after year, and now it has grown into a large event with 40 countries and regions involved.

World Cosplay Summit (WCS) nació en 2003 en la ciudad de Nagoya, con el propósito de crear un nuevo tipo de intercambio internacional. El número de participantes del extranjero ha seguido aumentando con cada edición de WCS, año tras año, y ahora se ha convertido en un gran evento con 40 países y regiones involucradas.

 メインイベントの１つ「世界コスプレチャンピオンシップ」は世界中のコスプレイヤーが出場を夢見るコスプレの世界大会です。本大会では、2名一組で、日本のマンガ、アニメ、ゲーム、特撮の作品のキャラクターのコスプレをします。大きく2つのポイントで競い合い、一つ目が自分たちで作成した「衣装」の出来栄え、二つ目が、2分30秒の中でその作品の世界を作り上げる「ステージパフォーマンス」になります。

One of the main events, the "World Cosplay Championship", is a world-class competition in which cosplayers from the entire world dream to take part. In this competition, teams of two participants perform in cosplay costumes of characters from Japanese manga, anime, videogames or tokusatsu films. They basically compete in two points, the first one being the workmanship and quality of the "costumes" made by themselves, and the second one being the "stage performance" in which they recreate the world of that original work in two minutes and thirty seconds.

Uno de los eventos principales, el "Campeonato Mundial de Cosplay", es una competencia de clase mundial en la que los cosplayers de todo el mundo sueñan con participar. En esta competencia, equipos de dos participantes se presentan en trajes de cosplay de personajes de manga, anime, videojuegos o películas tokusatsu japonesas. Básicamente compiten en dos puntos, el primero es el nivel de confección y la calidad de los "trajes" hechos por ellos mismos, y el segundo es la "actuación escénica" en la que recrean el mundo de ese trabajo original en dos minutos y treinta segundos.

「世界コスプレチャンピオンシップ」はコスプレのオリンピックや甲子園のようなものです。この大会に出場する為には各国で行われる予選会を勝ち抜きその国の代表コスプレイヤーになる必要があります。勝ち抜いたコスプレイヤーはその年の代表として来日し世界ナンバーワンのコスプレイヤーを目指しします。日々世界中のコスプレイヤーが「聖地＝日本・名古屋」に訪れることを夢見てコスプレ活動に励んでいます。日本はマンガやアニメの憧れの地だけに収まらず、コスプレの聖地と化しているのです。 

The "World Cosplay Championship" is like the Olympics or Kōshien of cosplay. In order to participate in this competition, it is necessary to win a preliminary held at each country and becoming the representative cosplayers of that country. The cosplayers that have won their national selection go to Japan as representatives of that year and then compete to become the number one cosplayers in the world. Cosplayers around the world are constantly devoted to their passion for this activity with the hope of fulfilling their dream of visiting this "motherland of cosplay = Japan | Nagoya". Japan is not only the dreamed land for fans of manga and anime, but it is also becoming the Mecca of cosplay.

El "Campeonato Mundial de Cosplay" es como los Juegos Olímpicos del cosplay. Para participar en esta competencia, es necesario ganar una competencia preliminar celebrada en cada país y así convertirse en los cosplayers representantes de ese país. Los cosplayers que han ganado su selección nacional van a Japón como representantes de ese año y luego compiten para convertirse en los cosplayers número uno del mundo. Los cosplayers de todo el mundo están constantemente dedicados a su pasión por esta actividad con la esperanza de cumplir su sueño de visitar esta "tierra del cosplay = Japón | Nagoya". Japón no solo es la tierra soñada para los fanáticos del manga y el anime, sino que también se está convirtiendo en la Meca del cosplay.

世界コスプレサミットチャンピオンシップは、言うなればコスプレのオリンピックのようなものです。世界中の若者がこの大会に出場するために、時間、お金、労力をかけて、各国の予選会に挑んでいます。

あるコスプレイヤーは衣装の制作に1年もの時間を掛け準備し、

あるコスプレイヤーはパフォーマンスの練習のために遠く離れたパートナーの元に通い、

あるコスプレイヤーは電気・ガスを止められても衣装にお金を掛け、パートナーの家に一緒に住んでこの大会に挑みます。

また、前年の代表が翌年の代表に自分の技術や経験を伝え、国一丸となって代表を応援します。そうやって、コスプレイヤーの夢の場所として18続いて来たのが世界コスプレサミットです。

In a word, the World Cosplay Summit Championship is something like the Olympics of cosplay. Youth from all over the world spend countless time, money and efforts in order to win their national preliminaries and being able to participate in this competition.

There are cosplayers who have spent one year in the creation of their costumes,

There are cosplayers who have travelled the longest distances to rehearse their performance next to their partners,

There are cosplayers who have spent money in their costumes, even if they could not pay the bills, and who have moved with their partners just to prepare for this competition.

Also, the representatives of previous years share their skills and experience with the next representatives, and support them as a matter of national pride. This is how the World Cosplay Summit has kept being the dreamed place of cosplayers for 18 years.

En una palabra, el campeonato de World Cosplay Summit es algo así como los Juegos Olímpicos de cosplay. Los jóvenes de todo el mundo gastan innumerables tiempo, dinero y esfuerzos para ganar sus preliminares nacionales y poder participar en esta competencia.

Hay cosplayers que invierten más de un año en la creación de sus trajes.

Hay cosplayers que han recorrido las distancias más largas para ensayar su actuación junto a sus parejas,

Hay cosplayers que invirtieron mucho dinero en sus trajes, incluso si no podían pagar las cuentas, y que se mudaron con sus socios solo para prepararse para esta competencia.

Además, los representantes de años anteriores comparten sus habilidades y experiencia con los próximos representantes, y los apoyan como una cuestión de orgullo nacional. Así es como la World Cosplay Summit ha seguido siendo el lugar soñado por los cosplayers durante 18 años.

 好きは世界をつなぐ/Love connects the world/El amor conecta al mundo 

漫画やアニメという好きなもので繋がっているからこそ、国の壁、言葉の壁、人種の壁、人種の壁が越えられます。

大会終了後の温泉旅行では、みんなで浴衣を来てカラオケ大会を実施。

アニソンをみんなで日本語で大合唱する様子はまさに世界平和そのもので、それが日本の文化である漫画やアニメが作り出したことを感じられる一瞬でもあります。

Participants love manga and anime, and this makes them overcome any barriers of nationality, language or race.

A trip to a hot spring is held after the competition, where all participants wear yukata and enjoy singing at the karaoke.

The image of them all singing anime songs in Japanese isn't but that of world peace, and it is striking to realize for a moment how the manga and anime that are Japanese culture have made it possible.

Los participantes adoran el manga y el anime, y esto los hace superar cualquier barrera de nacionalidad, idioma o raza.

Después de la competencia se realiza un viaje a las aguas termales, donde todos los participantes usan yukata y disfrutan cantando en el karaoke.

La imagen de todos ellos cantando canciones de anime en japonés no es sino la de la paz mundial, y es sorprendente darse cuenta por un momento de cómo el manga y el anime que son la cultura japonesa lo han hecho posible.

バックグラウンドの異なる40を超える国と地域が一同に会するこの奇跡のような時間。

このような仲間は一生ものの仲間となって大会終了後も連絡を取り合い、その絆を深めていっています。我々はこの毎年増える代表をアラムナイと呼び、その数は累計で600人ほどとなっています。

The fact that more than 40 countries and regions with such different backgrounds can come together feels like a miracle.

The friendships made here are friendships for a lifetime, and participants keep in touch and deepening their wounds with each other well after the end of the competition. We call this growing pool of representatives the "alumni", and their total number is about 600 persons.

El hecho de que más de 40 países y regiones tan diferentes puedan unirse se siente como un milagro.

Las amistades que se hacen aquí son amistades para toda la vida, y los participantes se mantienen en contacto y profundizan sus lazos mucho después del final de la competencia. Llamamos a este grupo creciente de representantes los "alumni", y su número total es de aproximadamente 600 personas.

世界コスプレサミット加盟国である国と地域もこのコロナ禍で、イベントの自粛要請、経済のストップによってイベントの実施が難しい状況にあります。各国オーガナイザーとも連携を取りながら、「来年、1ヶ国も欠けることなく、世界コスプレサミット2021を開催する。」という目標を達成するために、WCSファミリー一丸になってこのプロジェクトに取り組むことを決意しました。

The countries and regions participating in the World Cosplay Summit have also been affected by the coronavirus crisis, and the celebration of their events has been hampered either because of lockdown decrees or a difficult economic situation. In cooperation with the organizers of each country, we have decided to engage in this protect with the entire WCS family working together as one, in order to accomplish the purpose of "being able to celebrate the World Cosplay Summit 2021 next year, without leaving any country or region behind". 

Los países y regiones que participan en World Cosplay Summit también se han visto afectados por la crisis del coronavirus, y la celebración de sus eventos se ha visto obstaculizada por los bloqueos y por la difícil situación económica. En cooperación con los organizadores de cada país, hemos decidido participar con toda la familia de WCS para trabajar juntos como uno solo, para lograr el propósito de "poder celebrar World Cosplay Summit 2021 el próximo año, sin dejar ningún país o región detrás ".

 我々は年に一度のこのコスプレサミットの場を守りたい。18年続いたこの世界コスプレサミットの火を絶やしたくないと切に願っています。少しでも構いません！皆さん一人ひとりの支援がたくさん集まればそれは"存続の力"になります！

コスプレサミット開催の影の立役者の一つとしておもてなし学生実行委員会がいます。毎年世界中から集まってくる各国代表のコスプレイヤーたち。中には日本どころか、海外に来るのも初めてだとう世界のコスプレイヤーたちがいます。コスプレの聖地に来れてワクワクした気持ちと、言語も通じず不安な気持ちを抱えて日本にやって来ます。そんな日本での滞在をもっと楽しんでもらいたいとおもてなし学生実行委員会設立されました。コスプレイヤーと共に闘うもう一つの物語がここにはあります。

The Omotenashi Student Corp plays a central role supporting the celebration of the World Cosplay Summit behind the scenes. Representative cosplayers from each country gather from every corner of the world, every year. Among them, there are outstanding cosplayers who don't just come to Japan for the first time, but maybe they are doing their first trip overseas. They have come to Japan with the excitement of being in the homeland of cosplay, but at the same time they feel lost and uneasy, as they cannot make themselves being understood. The Omotenashi Student Corp was established with the purpose of helping representatives during their stay in Japan. Here is another story of struggle along with cospayers.

Cosplayers representativos de cada país se reúnen desde todos los rincones del mundo, todos los años. Entre ellos, hay cosplayers sobresalientes que no solo vienen a Japón por primera vez, sino que tal vez están haciendo su primer viaje al extranjero. Han venido a Japón con la emoción de estar en la tierra natal del cosplay, pero al mismo tiempo se sienten perdidos e incómodos, ya que no pueden hacerse entender. El “Omotenashi Student Corp” se estableció con el propósito de ayudar a los representantes durante su estadía en Japón. Aquí hay otra historia de lucha junto con los cosplayers.

今回WCSが存続の危機ということを聞きつけて、応援アンバサダーに名乗りを上げてくれた人物がいます。今まで400近くのコスプレ衣装を制作し、世界中のWCS予選でも審査員をしてきた、作家やデザイナーとしても大活躍のコスプレイヤーヤヤハンさんです。これからもこのコスプレ文化を守るために、そしてコスプレサミットを目指すコスプレイヤーのために力になりたいと立ち上がってくれました！

There are personalities who have heard that the continuity of the WCS was at risk, and have committed to be appointed as Support Ambassadors. One of these is the established cosplayer Yaya Han, a renowned creator and designer who has produced almost 400 cosplay costumes so far, and has been participating as a jury in WCS preliminaries around the world. She is standing up now, to protect the cosplay culture in the times to come, and to help out the cosplayers whose aim is put at the World Cosplay Summit!

Hay personalidades que han escuchado que la continuidad de la WCS estaba en riesgo y se han comprometido a ser nombrados embajadores de apoyo. Uno de ellos es la reconocida cosplayer Yaya Han, quien ha creado casi 400 disfracetrajes de cosplay hasta ahora, y ha participado como jurado en preliminares de WCS en todo el mundo. Ella está de pie ahora, para proteger la cultura del cosplay en los tiempos venideros y para ayudar a los cosplayers cuyo objetivo se pone en World Cosplay Summit.

こんにちは。世界コスプレサミット実行委員長の小栗徳丸です。2003年に世界コスプレサミットを立ち上げてから18年、様々な困難を乗り越えてここまで続けて来ました。参加の国と地域も40を超えて、今では名古屋の夏の風物詩の一つになりました。名古屋・愛知の皆様、また世界中のジャパンポップカルチャーに支えられてここまで大きくなったコスサミです。本当に感謝しております。

この火を消してはいけないと今年はこのコロナ禍にオンラインでの開催を決めましたが、2021年の実施がこのままでは難しいです。各国の代表になるには、その国の地域予選を勝ち抜くために何年もチャレンジするコスプレイヤーがおり、世界中の多くのコスプレイヤーの憧れの場所を守りたいというその一心です。一人ひとりの小さなが支援がこの文化を繋ぐ一歩になります。これからもっともっと皆様に恩返しをするためにも是非、この危機を乗り切るためにご支援頂けますと幸いです。

Hello. This is Tokumaru Oguri, from the World Cosplay Summit Executive Committee. 18 years have passed since the World Cosplay Summit was established in 2003, and it has been able to overcome several adversities until now. The number of participating countries and regions exceeds 40, and the event has become one of the quintessential traditions of the summer in Nagoya. The WCS has become such a large event supported by persons in Nagoya and the Aichi prefecture and by fans of Japanese pop culture around the world. I am very grateful to you all.

We have decided to organize an online event amidst the coronavirus crisis of this year, to keep the flame alive, but in the current situation the celebration of 2021 is at a serious risk. There are cosplayers who have been stubbornly trying to win the national preliminaries of their countries and become the representatives of their country a number of times, and my only wish is to protect this place so longed for by so many cosplayers from the entire world. The little support from everyone will become a step to hold this culture together. I would be happy if I could obtain your support to overcome this crisis and be able to repay your kindness in an even greater way in the future.

Hola. Este es Tokumaru Oguri, del Comité Ejecutivo de World Cosplay Summit. Han pasado 18 años desde que se estableció World Cosplay Summit en 2003, y hasta ahora ha podido superar varias adversidades. El número de países y regiones participantes supera los 40, y el evento se ha convertido en una de las tradiciones por excelencia del verano en Nagoya. WCS se ha convertido en un evento tan grande apoyado por personas en Nagoya y la prefectura de Aichi y por fanáticos de la cultura pop japonesa en todo el mundo. Estoy muy agradecido con todos ustedes.

Hemos decidido organizar un evento en línea en medio de la crisis de coronavirus de este año, para mantener viva la llama, pero en la situación actual la celebración de 2021 está en grave riesgo. Hay cosplayers que han intentado obstinadamente ganar los preliminares nacionales de sus países y convertirse en representantes de su país varias veces, y mi único deseo es proteger este lugar tan anhelado por tantos cosplayers de todo el mundo. El apoyo de todos se convertirá en un paso para mantener esta cultura unida. Estaría feliz si pudiera obtener su apoyo para superar esta crisis y poder pagar su amabilidad de una manera aún mayor en el futuro.
