So the #Uyghurs committed at least 2 genocides throughout their history: The first was against the native eastern Iranic peoples in southern #Xinjiang, and the second was against the Dzungars in northern Xinjiang. Separated by several centuries, mind you. Terrible nonetheless.

This wasn't the first genocide the #Uyghurs participated in, by the way. Historically, their homeland was modern-day Mongolia. They were pushed out of Mongolia by the Tang-backed Kyrgyz tribes, and ended up migrating to the Tarim Basin, where they killed eastern Iranic peoples. twitter.com/nadiabelushi/s…

Speaking of genocides, very few people know that the #Uyghurs, under the leadership of Emin Khoja, helped the Qing dynasty commit genocide against the Dzungars/Oirats in #Xinjiang. Half of Xinjiang was inhabited by Dzungars. The Qing dynasty settled Uyghurs and Hans in the north. twitter.com/nadiabelushi/s…

I hate the fact that the #Kurds participated alongside the Turks in the Armenian Genocide. Those towns in Syria, such as Ras al-Ain, became cursed because of the genocide. Those Armenians were forced on death marches into the Syrian desert. Terrible. Absolutely terrible. twitter.com/nadiabelushi/s…

Not enough. Armenians must one day be allowed back to their ancestral homeland in Asia Minor / Anatolia, and they must be given an independent sovereign state there. Simply recognising a genocide isn't enough. Territorial reparations must be made.

You are right. However, a lot of Kurds actually hid Armenians and helped them flee from Turkey during the Armenian Genocide. Also many Kurds acknowledge what their ancestors did was evil en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurdish_r

Another depressing excerpt from her writings: "The battalion left Aleppo on 3 February and reached Ras al-Ain in 12 hours....some 12,000 Armenians were concentrated under the guardianship of some hundred #Kurds...These Kurds were called gendarmes, but in reality mere butchers;" twitter.com/nadiabelushi/s…

Here: gertrudebell.ncl.ac.uk/letter_details Read the entire letter. It will disgust you. She says other depressing things, such as how some Arabs celebrated Turkey's expulsion of the Greeks from Izmir, etc. And of course she mentions how the #Kurds are so divided. Typical. Sooo typical, ugh.

It's really terrible. Incredibly terrible behaviour. Very depressing to learn about. The more I learn about #Kurdish history, the more it begins to make sense to me why the #Kurds still don't have their own country. They are their own worst enemies. Always were. #TwitterKurds

The problem of the Kurdish nation, in general, is jashism (If you don't know what that means, Basically a jash are people who betray their nation and join the side that is trying to erase his or her nation from existant and yet they help in that.) Kurds have always being divide.

Gertrude Bell said in her letter that Slemani voted to leave #Iraq, but Erbil refused to join Slemani. Funny how many #Kurdish nationalists blame her for not having their own state, and yet so many #Kurds in the 1920s were hurting their own interests. So typical! #TwitterKurds

No disrespect to any who this doesn't apply to, but from the start of all this. Erbil has always been the epicentre of betrayal to the Kurdish cause, Jashism and corruption. Sulaimani is known as the city of intellectual while Erbil as the city of tribalism in Kurdistan

According to a letter that Gertrude Bell sent to her father in August 1921, the #Kurds of #Iraq were so divided that the Erbil refused to unite with Slemani, even though the Kurds claimed they wanted their own state. Does that sound familiar? #TwitterKurds #Kurdistan #Kurdish

August 1921 Gertrude Bell: "The #Kurds...want a Kurdish state under our protection, but what they mean by that neither they nor anyone else knows. For they emphatically refuse to be connected in any way with the Kurdish province of Sulaimani...So much for #Kurdish nationalism"
