It's finally here! Just what everyone has been asking for... The Ministry of State Security in Beijing has recently launched an online platform where people can report any situation or provide information about persons or organizations that endanger the national security of the People's Republic of China.

If your report is confirmed and has played an important role, the platform will provide "certain material or spiritual reward" to the person submitting the report.

The platform, which can be found at www.12339.gov.cn, is available in both English and Chinese so practically anyone can take advantage of this new tool. Those who may now be considering a new career path as an informant may be disappointed to know; however, that there is a maximum of 3 reports each informant may submit within 24 hours. If you can't use the website for any reason, you can also call 12339, the report hotline of the state security organ, or go to No. 9, Dongdajie, Qianmen, Dongcheng District, Beijing to make a report in person.

Although the platform is primarily focused on reporting those committing acts of espionage, the platform also accepts clues on those suspected of violating "Relevant provisions of the laws and regulations according to Criminal law of the People's Republic of China."

When submitting a report, you may find it difficult to select the "Nationality" of the person or organization you are reporting as the country names do not appear in alphabetical order. The reasoning behind the order of the list is not clearly stated on the website.

Note: Although this article is written with a humorous tone, as the topic is an uncomfortable one, readers should not misinterpret that to mean that this isn't a serious or real topic.
