If you test positive for coronavirus, you must stay at home for at least 7 days and until you feel better. People in your household should stay at home for 14 days.
We are significantly increasing community testing for coronavirus. Hundreds of staff and trained volunteers will be calling on people at home to offer them a free test, with mobile testing units setting up in local neighbourhoods. If you are contacted, please take the test.
NHS and council staff, supported by volunteers, will be knocking on doors in the areas below. Depending on the area, they will encourage people to go to a nearby mobile testing unit, or help them book a test online or offer a home testing kit.
Completed home tests will be picked up later the same day and sent for processing. Results will be delivered in a text, directly to the individual’s mobile phone, within 48 hours.
Contact tracing is a key part of public health measures to reduce and prevent the spread of coronavirus. The contacts those that test positive for coronavirus, provides you with some critical health advice, and asks where you've been recently and who you've been in close contact with. If you have had a positive test result for coronavirus or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive, you will be contacted by text, email, phone call or by household visit by us or the NHS. This is an effective method of protecting people and slowing the spread of coronavirus by breaking the chain of transmission of the virus. ‘Contact’ means a person who has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus and who may or may not live with them.
