A British toddler, age 3, is currently being treating for alcoholism. The baby was reportedly clinically diagnosed by medical doctors and is reportedly suffering from severe withdrawal symptoms. One expert reportedly said that in order to experience the kind of withdrawal symptoms that this unfortunate toddler is experiencing, he would had to consume it on a regular basis over an extended period of time, creating a physical dependency on it. The toddler is currently staying in a local hospital, as a patient of their alcohol dependency program.
According to the Home and Daily Express, more and more youngsters are being treated for alcoholism in Britain over the last few years. Records reportedly reveal that at least four, 5 year olds have been treated for substance abuse, including alcoholism, in the last few years. While some experts are pointing the finger at advertising campaigns and unfair marketing practices that target young people, it’s hard to believe that would lead a 3 year old to alcoholism on his own. Others point to more likely culprits like the ever popular UK drink, alcoholic cider, which is tastes similar to juice. For children and toddlers as young as 3 and 5, the alcohol would have likely been given to them directly by adults. Whatever the reason, alcoholism in children this young proves to be a disturbing trend in the UK with significant health ramifications, including brain damage.
