Not really. Assam's rising share of Muslims owes largely to British era importation of Bengali Muslims in Lower Assam which continued even after independence. Kerala was 17.5% Muslim even in 1901. The share of Muslims started rising only from around 1971 again. twitter.com/CentralBanker9

North Macedonia was 33.33% Muslim as per the 2002 census and in the -4 age group, 46.5% were Muslims. By 2050, the country will definitely have a Muslim majority even the Muslims have sub-replacement level fertility. The TFR of the Slavs is dangerously low.

The share of Muslims is rebounding after the population exchange in the early 20th century. Bosnia & Herzegovina 1971 39.6% 2013 50.1% North Macedonia 1971 25.14% 2010 35-39% 2050 56.2% (Pew projections) After Albania, B & H became M majority (again). North Macedonia is next.

The reason a population exchange didn't happen in East India was Nehru. The reason Muslims in Mewat didn't leave for Pakistan is Gandhi, who begged them to stay back. If it weren't for these two people, share of Muslims would've been much lower in India today.

There are definitely more factors than just a Muslim rule in rising share of Muslim population. Telangana has been under Muslim rule longer than Kerala yet has a lower share of Muslims. Population booms in East Bengal and West Punjab boosted Muslim population by a lot.
