I don't want to generalize, but speaking as someone who was raised Muslim and talked to many Muslims all over the world, a lot of y'all actually supported Saudi during their Wahhabi years.. it was never about having morals and a conscience, it was always about liberalization.

Muslim's issues with Saudi Arabia is fairly recent, it's mostly due to the country's recent liberal domestic policies that kicked off in 2017-2018, this is why I can't help it but roll my eyes when I see religious Muslims condemn Saudi Arabia these days.

As it's the case with the deaths of socialists, Mohammed Saleh Mutie's death was equally mysterious, Ali Nassir had him killed for "high treason" without granting him a trial. There were no evidence of treason, so the question is why? It's a mystery that'll never be uncovered.

The two men in my profile pictures had gruesome deaths. Mutie was strangled by a wire in 1982, and Fattah disappeared under mysterious circumstances in 1986, presumably after getting shelled in a vehicle. Both were summarily executed under orders of President Ali Nassir Mohammed.

mentioned this to me a while ago but I didn't think much about it until I put it into perspective with Yemen/Teman being "the South", still, this is a good thread on this.

It was just applied to Jews of the “East” centering Jews from the “West” as was also the case in Europe with some WE Jews labeling EE Jews as Mizrahi.

Just found out that Mizrahi means "East" in biblical Hebrew, and Teman means "South" (already knew this, and unsurprising, considering it also means Yemen, which also means South). This only further shows how flawed the Mizrahi label is for Yemeni Jews.

Picture of South Yemen's YSP General Secretary Abdel Fattah Ismail, with Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammed Saleh Mutie to his right, during their visit to the USSR, meeting Soviet Union's CPSU General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev. 1979, Moscow, the USSR.
