"The term racist and racism were used before Trotsky's time. However, Trotsky made the terms famous when he was one of the first to call out the racist policies of Nazi Germany through the distribution of pamphlets. Given his Jewish roots,"

In short, all these humanitarian interventionists, neocons, "anti-fascists"...whatever you want to call them, getting mad at Obama and Trump over not bombing Syria over chemical weapons probably would have gotten mad at JFK and Johnson 60 years ago over Egypt.

Starting in the 1970s, many Egyptian scientists helped transfer and build up the chemical weapons arsenals of Syria and Iraq. East Germany and North Korea also played minor roles in this.

Egypt hired German scientists, many of them former Nazis, to help build up his chemical arsenal. Nasser's justification was that Israel already had nuclear weapons and would likely use chemical weapons too, so it was basically fair game.

Basically, nearly every last Western country condemned, but refused to punish Egypt, for using chemical weapons because they didn't think it was worth cutting political and economic ties with Egypt. Kinda like with Syria today.

This is a really good article I read last night. Apparently, the outrage and subsequent inaction over Syria's use of chemical weapons has a precedent going back to the early 1960s, when Egypt used them in Yemen.

I also remember sometime after the Las Vegas massacre that they interviewed an old Israeli woman who was some head of an organization who said she sympathized with the victims because "We Jews have been dealing with terrorism since 1948".

This is significant because there is a gigantic Israeli expat community in Las Vegas thanks to Sheldon Adelson and his various organizations.
Remember Amy's Baking Company? She and Sami (a Mizrahi) met at a strip club in Las Vegas.

Brazilians tend to tan well and Bolsomito changes from cashew apple color to cashew butter and back depending on what day it is.
Trump, on the other hand, is just pumpkin all the time.

Everyone knows of the Starbucks barista who got a $100,000 “tip” after refusing to serve a woman who refused to wear a mask. Well, a young Oakland McDonalds worked did the same thing but got beat up, called racial slurs, and ended up in the ER instead. A close friend of mine...

Vital point from the comments by Russian media/analysts abt #Circassians: Putin’s greatest achievement is that the Russians no longer have to be shy abt their genocidal history, they now can accept & be proud of it &, if needed - annihilate any minority. They call it patriotism.

Wouldn't it be nice to even have a state high speed rail that connected Greenville, to Columbia, Myrtle Beach and Charleston, maybe even on up to Rock Hill?
With a renewed emphasis on high quality public transit within cities?

This guy is calling me an apologist for colonialism because I correctly pointed out that Korean industry, mass media, and consumerism started under Japanese rule. The same is true for Taiwan.
It's like getting mad over Jamaicans speaking English or something.

The Japanese enslaved and murdered millions of Chinese and Koreans, banning expressions of their culture and national identity, as they used southern Korea as a granary and northern Korea and Manchuria as a factory complex.

D’Souza’s argument is that British Imperialism in India was a net positive because, although they lost their self-determination, the British built railroads, schools, hospitals, etc.
Your claim that the Japanese “built up” Korea, while glossing over the atrocities, is that same

Zeev Sternhell was a historian of nationalism who demolished the myth of French “immunity” to fascism. His focus on a history of ideas traced the genealogy of France’s far right—yet proved less able to understand the forces that powered fascist movements.

On Okinawa, dozens of U.S. Marines have been infected at two bases there in what is feared to be a massive outbreak: “We now have strong doubts that the U.S. military has taken adequate disease prevention measures”
