Western Yugurs are Vajrayana Buddhists and speak a remnant of the Old Uyghur language.
Modern Uyghurs are Karlukh Turks who started calling themselves "Uyghurs" only around 1930s under Soviet influence.

The area was abound with Indianized kingdoms that served as stops for Indian traders to China.

Every year in late spring, pilgrims would arrive at Imam Asim, near Khotan, in the thousands. The first stop was a special seasonal market at the edge of the desert, with children's rides, a tight rope act, and sweets for sale.

Now, they claim to be the natives of the region.

Christians in Middle East never forced Zoroastrians to change religions and vice versa despite 600 years of wars. The wars were for power territory and trade. Islam came and they on top of human needs of war as said before they force their ways on everyone that’s not them
