The reason I deleted my message and was calling you out is because you have actively participated in JCJ threads and posted me to JCJ resulting in people literally stalking me, death threats, and people telling me to kill myself. Apologizing that you "disagreed" with me is such a petty deflection. Trolling me when you know well that you've been a toxic person is also a petty deflection. I am not judging you by the subs you post in. I am judging you by the sheer acts of toxicity you've participated in against me and god knows how many other people. Fuck you.

What is with this rubbish reddit section Japan clerk.. its like de-faming people being rude and the list goes on .. all I can read are all negative aspects here not one positive constructive feedback at all. This section of reddit seems to me like its a place where its 100% negativity... do not see the positive energy in it. An absolute cesspit

So I was introduced to /r/japancirclejerk the other day and after initially thinking it could be a pretty hilarious sub, I was pretty shocked to see the some of the racism (Japanese are all idiots, Australians in Japan are all scum) sexualisation of minors ("I don't see the problem with liking 12 year old schoolgirls" - actual quote) and this strange hierarchy of "who's the better gaijin". I have lived in Japan for a while now and while I tend to only really spend time with other Japanese people, (in very rural place). I had no idea other expats in Japan can be this vitriolic and frankly, gross. Thoughts? Edit: Apparently JCJ isn't allowed to be criticised as it is a "circlejerk" and circlejerks are sacrament. My bad.

It's a community of people who literally get off on something as mundane as belittling others for posting slightly unusual things in Japan-related subs. What's more, "triggering" other people is equivalent to or better than karma, which means they have their own reward mechanism and value system in addition to reddit's usual system. This makes total sense, because they can interpret the"triggering" as proof that they have the power to elicit a social response, while at the same time sparing themselves the effort of contributing anything to the discussion. At the same time, it serves to confirm that there is an outgroup of people who "don't get it" and who are inferior to the ingroup. Basically they function similarly to a religious cult. They create a sense of superiority within their group by collectively discrediting others, without actually being superior at anything. Naturally, they would rebut the fact that their superiority is not recognized outside of their community by making fun of critics, categorizing them as outsiders who "don't get it". Their whole community is however void of substance, because its logic only exists within itself and doesn't hold up against the complex realities of the rest of society. It is defined merely as the negative of those whom they make fun of. Ironically, thereby depending on those "outsiders" for their very existence."
