We compared the effect of closing schools for COVID-19 and for influenza-like illnesses, using the different distributions of susceptibility and clinical symptoms for those infections.
We estimated the Covid values, and influenza-like are examples (not estimated).

We found that children were about half as susceptible to infection as adults, and were less likely to show symptoms if infected.
