Welcome to Earth Action Trust.

Earth Action Trust is a New Zealand charitable organization working for environmental awareness and protection. With a focus on waste elimination, we are working towards achieving the zero waste and zero unemployment vision by 2040. Since 2014, we have diverted tens of tonnes of waste from going to landfill and redistributed back to the community through our programmes.

Our Mission

  1. To operate a high employment social enterprise to improve the socio-economic conditions of the most deprived and marginalised.
  2. To recognise the cultural diversity of New Zealand and integrate it into all aspects of the Trust’s operation.

Our Programmes

ReUsable Goods Bank

Formerly called “Don’t Trash It, Donate It”, this programme redistributes unused and preloved goods in good working condition to members of the community, saving them from ending up in the landfill.

Holistic Fabric Upcycling

This upcycling sewing programme provides a workshop for migrant women to get creative with unused fabrics and unwanted sewing machines and equipment to produce natural, environmentally-friendly products.

Food Recovery

Food waste disposed in landfill generates methane gas which is a significant contributor to global warming. This programme functions as a hub for distributing unsold bread and vegetables in partnership with another community organisation.

Recycle Messaging for Newcomers

For newcomers sometimes it is difficult to understand the implication of the messages conveyed by authority and mainstream culture. They prefer more direct and plain wordings and step by step instructions.
