The broadcast and production of TV anime New Life+: Young Again in Another World (Nidome no Jinsei o Isekai de) has been put on hold.
The news was announced on the title’s official website. The website has stated ‘Since announcing the anime, we have received a chain of serious concerns and therefore, we would like to inform you of the cancellation of broadcasting and production of this anime. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or concern we have caused to the people involved in the creation of this title.’
The original light novel New Life+: Young Again in Another World is a fantasy story about the 94-year-old main character Renya Kunugi, who reincarnates in another world and lives his second life. The production of the anime adaptation was announced in May. It was scheduled to air from October 2018 but multiple cast members of the anime had recently announced their withdrawal from the work as part of the ongoing backlash regarding questionable tweets from the original author of the light novels, as well as questionable content in the light novels themselves.
