An acetone molecule does have a net dipole. The dipole moment of
acetone is 2.91 D. This is caused by the difference in
electronegativity between methyl groups and a carbonyl group.

Is methanol more polar than acetone?
Methanol is more polar because is capable of dipole-dipole
interactions AND hydrogen bonding while acetone is capable of just
dipole-dipole interaction.

What type of bonding between atoms in acetone?
Acetone is a polar molecule that is attracted to other acetone
molecules through dipole-dipole interactions. The oxygen on the
acetone, however, is not directly bonded to a hydrogen atom so it
does not form hydrogen bonds with other acetone molecules.

An electric dipole is placed in a nonuniform electric filedIs there a net force on the dipole?
dipole-dipole and dispersion forces
similar to water without hydrogen bonding as hydrogen is not
bonded directly to oxygen. note: oxygen has 2 lone pair in both
acetone and h2o.

What is the dipole moment direction for acetone?
yes
Regarding intermolecular forces, acetone has the chemical
formula C3H60, through Hydrogen Bonds, the partial positive charge
of Hydrogen in acetone is attracted to the partial negative charge
of Oxygen in water. Also, inversely the Hydrogen in water is
attracted to the Oxygen in Acetone. A dipole-dipole bond is also
formed between the two substances due to the difference in charges.
They there fore have an affinity for one another, and to be
separated (as an example through fractional or simple distillation)
the dipole dipole bonds and hydrogen bonds would need to be
broken.

What are the intermolecular forces of acetone?
Ammonia has a dipole moment of 1.46D. Its dipole moment is the
net dipole moment resulting from three individual bond moments.

Why acetone is miscible to water?
The correct spelling is dipole moment instead of dipole
movement. The definition of dipole moment is the net molecular
polarity measure. It is the separation of dipole ends and the
magnitude of charges.

Why is actone miscible in water?
This is the product between the electrical charge at the end of
a dipole and the distance from ends.

Is PCl5 polar or not?
Ay molecule with a net dipole moment will have dipole -dipole
interactions. These are molecules with polar bonds caused by a
diference in electronegativity between the atoms being bonded.

What causes a molecule to have a net dipole moment?
I would say that, based on the molecular formula (CH3COCH3), the
intermolecular forces are London Dispersion forces (of course) as
well as dipole-dipole forces since there is a dipole moment due to
the electronegativitiy of the oxygen.

What type of molecule has Dipole-Dipole forces created?
Carbon tetrachloride is tetrahedron shaped, it is 100%
symmetrical. Thus all the 4 bond dipole moments cancel each other
and the net dipole moment is zero.

Differentiate polar and non-polar covalent compounds?
by means of dipole moment. Dipole moment is produced when two
atoms having larger difference of electronegativity are bonded
together. Polarity of molecule can be determined by net dipole
moment . Dipole moment is vector quantity therefore when all dipole
moments cancel each other then net dipole moment is zero and
molecule is non polar. For example CO2 is non polar because there
are two equal dipole moments which are exactly in opposite
directions. Both dipole moments will cancel each other and net
dipole moment will be zero. That's why CO2 is non polar. Now take
an another of carbontetrachloride CCl4. This molecule is
tetrahedral and there are 4 equal dipole moments in this molecule.
Since this molecule is symmetrical, all dipole moments will cancel
each other and net dipole moment will be zero. You can confirm this
result by drawing vectors on each bond of molecule. All the vectors
are equal and are separated by equal angles.
