So I used Kat for the longest time and it got shut down but nbd because of kodi. Well now I want to update my media server. To my dismay I cant find any decent ones. Can you guys point me in the right direction? Your help is greatly appreciated thanks!
As a quick reference, currently the biggest public torrent indexers are:
[TPB] (https://thepiratebay.org/)
[ExtraTorrent] (https://extratorrent.cc/) (official mirrors: https://extra.to, https://etmirror.com, https://etproxy.com, https://extratorrentonline.com, https://extratorrentlive.com) EDIT: Down
[RARBG] (https://rarbg.to/)
[l337x] (http://1337x.to/)
[TorrentDownloads] (https://www.torrentdownloads.me/)
[LimeTorrents] (https://www.limetorrents.cc/)
Others worth checking out:
[KickAssTorrents] (https://katcr.co/new/)
[WorldWide Torrents] (https://worldwidetorrents.eu/)
[Demonoid] (https://www.demonoid.pw/) (alt domain: .click)
[ruTracker] (https://rutracker.org/)
Torrentbit EDIT: Site no longer works or is fake.
ZeroTorrent (Hosted in ZeroNet, see r/zeronet)
etc.
(also see r/kickasstorrents, r/TPB, r/thepiratebay, r/PirateBay, r/Demonoid, r/Rarbg)
There are also many private torrent trackers, check out r/trackers for info on them.
EDIT: Updates
EDIT: RIP ExtraTorrent
I use Zooqle.com a lot too. It's kind of a shitty site, but it's a good "I can't find it anywhere else" resource. For movies anyway, I haven't used it for anything else.
They have a lot of russian dubs with seeders, which also almost always have the original english audio tracks in them. So I'll download those and run them through mkvtoolnix to strip out the russian audio/subs.
Cool and thanks for info checking these out now
Nice reference list. After KAT's demise I've been wary of trying any alternatives other than Piratebay and 1337x, so I'm much obliged for this info.
There's this new website by the name of skytorrents.in
Its ad-free and quite fast.
+1 just say it on HN, it's super awesome. No ads, no JavaScript, no cookies.
Thank you soooo much, I've been getting frustrated trying to find music torrents. This site is great
But it's search engine is horrible. You type one thing and it shows that thing plus 50 other stuff you didn't ask for.
good site. with PB down ATM, I tried torlock and the file was slow as shit (200kb/sec), tried this one for the first time, getting 3mb/sec. Thanks!
We'd normally remove this post per rule #2, but it is 2017 so figured why not leave this one up :P
That said it would be helpful to search r/torrents, many/most of these sites have already been discussed.

Thanks for not removing it I'm a bit new to reddit.
Yes thank you for not removing, I will save all of this info once I get the chance. Currently work.
I use Torsearch. It is clean and ad free and has most things. I think it is an aggregator?
I think it is an aggregator?
Yup. They're not a standalone indexer the way that TPB, ExtraTorrent, RARBG, etc. is.
More of a meta search / aggregator site.
I would use a private tracker, they are much safer and usually have a better selection. TorrentLeech has open sign ups until they reach 10,000, I believe, and that is a good general site.
Noted yea I def want to get on a private joint never been before.
I agree to this. mine was utorrent but the guy that runs it is apparently a douche and I really couldn't get any seeding done, no matter how long I had the client open, and how open I had my settings. I'm a casual so I'd be down for up'ing as much as possible but the uttorent dude had me 'donating' like $20 bucks every other month. (They aren't set up for non-power users). Any other suggestions for casuals?
Edit: iptorrent, not my torrent client!
I am using both RARBG and Zamunda . Zamunda is pretty much blocked worldwide, it is available to Bulgaria and Turkey as far as I know.
I would reccomend arenabg too. Zamunda is avaliable with a bulgarian proxy.
If you use the built-in search function of qBittorrent (client) , it works nicely from what I've seen so far... maybe in part it's relying on servers which are cached. It's sad we can't just back up every torrent by name/description and create our own rolling backups or something for when this stuff happens... hopefully it's not the result of a court order relevant to the sites it took down, too.

Hey guys having a lot of issues using any torrent websites. Websites like RARBG and 1337x dont even work for me anymore. Is anyone else having these issues? ANyone recommendations?
Websites like RARBG and 1337x dont even work for me anymore
Those sites all work fine. Get a paid torrent-friendly VPN or browse the sites with Tor Browser if the sites are blocked on your end.
Why do these torrent sites refuse connection with me? I use a witopia for a VPN.
You're probably using a crap VPN provider. Try accessing the sites with Tor Browser for now, & work on getting a better paid torrent friendly VPN (see r/VPNTorrents or r/VPN).
Comcast has announced From March 13th to May 13th all customers will have unlimited data (both downloads and uploads) please take this time to seed and torrent as much as you would like, strengthen the community
Edit : Not unlimited bandwidth speeds, just no data cap, you'll have the same download/upload speeds, just no fees for excessive data usage per your plan (most customers have 1TB, those who opted in for higher data caps are being returned credit for the amount they're paying extra)
Hi,
I'd like to share a relatively large group of files (~50GB) with a fairly large group (probably multiple hundreds of people). I immediately thought of BitTorrent and according my reading, it seems I could create a trackerless .torrent file. I also read a 3 years old post that suggest BitTorrent Sync (which apparently is now called Resilio).
Here is my situation:
- I'm not too concerned about encryption/privacy since those files are mostly public already;
- My target audience will most likely be non-tech-savy people, of all ages and with various environments (Windows and Mac);
- I am looking for a P2P-like solution so that I am not the only one seeding/sharing the files and that, eventually, it continues to be shared by other people even if I stop sharing it;
- It must be free.
My initial attempt at creating a .torrent file and sharing it with a friend to test didn't work (we both enabled DHT and it was trackerless and our ports are correctly configured; but he wasn't finding me as a peer). Furthermore, since torrent clients require ports to be forwarded, I fear it may be too much of a technological hurdle.
I haven't really looked into Resilio (does it require port forwarding?), is this the best option? Does the free option comes with crap-ware or is it complicated to configure for regular 20yo - 50yo people with no specific technical knowledge?
I was under the impression that recent versions of Windows INCLUDED P2P tools built in... Can I use that?
Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
Thanks
The file has a seeds rate higher than peers but still download at 50kb/s ?
A friend had a situation where he wanted to seed a torrent that he had previously created at Cinemageddon private tracker. He put up the original DVD files to seed from, but they showed only 98%. He had gotten the files from me and I still had the same files. I sent them to him and he attempted to seed from those files, and they still only showed 98%. What could be happening here?
Are there any sites that convert magnet urls to .torrent files? I Used to use some but I cant find any working ones anymore... :(
So, You've selected of a torrent for download, a torrent that is completely legal mind you but thats besides the point. Anyway, the torrent in question has a batch of files and let's say in this 100% fictitious scenario that these batch of files are a merged 0.219 romset with over 1k files.
When selecting the torrent it gives you the option to pick and choose what to download with in that torrent. We all know about this. My question is this: Is there a client that has the ability to search for a specific file with in the torrent/magnet link etc? I know you can browse the files by letter with a keystroke, unfortunately if the zipfile name starts with the letter B and you hit the B key in browse, it brings you to the top of the files that start with B. Unfortunately if the next letter in the filename is Q(Example: Bquest2.zip) or anyother lower alphabet, you just can't hit the Q key after hitting B to bring up all the files that have the letter Q right after B in the file name.
I am looking for a way that would allow me to download the files I am looking for with out having to comb through thousands while looking for that one file, which is what I am doing now. Luckily there are many sites that with complete listings, also have the romfile names and the names of the files needed to run some of the newer roms while NOT actually having the roms for download. Still it's awesome for referencing as it is a massive curated list with Screen shots etc. It's like a museum for Arcade emulation. Don't think I can link it here, even tho no roms are linked nor posted there but better safe than sorry. I wouldn't even google search 'arcade database italia' which is an English site contrary to the name.
Besides manually hunting and cherry picking the selective download, is there a "Find file" option within the selective download screen in any torrent clients? Downloading a 65GIG set just to search file that way is NOT something I wanna do, tho it's more than likely faster to find once download, the file I am looking for then it is to selective check the box for individual D/L. I hope this all makes sense, I tried to explain the best I could while on enough Xanax to medicate a pack of elephants who have been on a coke binge while banging meth.
Thank you for understanding my lack of understanding with in my current state.

Having this same problem as I'm seeing around here. I've torrented successfully for awhile and haven't changed anything except updating OSX and updating qbittorrent. I tried switching torrent clients back to utorrent and brave and had no success. I tried the well-seeded ubuntu torrent others have suggested, still no connections.
I can be near certain that it isn't an isp or configuration issue because I was able to connect easily on my old isp then it suddenly stopped. Now in an entirely new area with a new ISP I'm still having the same issues. Seems likely to be some OSX change, could anyone advise?
I got a new Dell Esperion computer about a month ago and I cant figure this issue out im having, when downloading highly seeded torrents the download speed will either cap at 2MBPS or 10MBPS. I have gigabit internet from my ISP, when I download something from a browser I get about 70MBPS. I have been testing by downloading UBUNTU torrent, when I download it from my laptop on 5g wifi I get 40-50 MBPS, I tried from my old computer and ethernet cable I get 50-60MBPS but my new computer 10MBPS. The computer has a Realtek pcie gbe family controller with the latest drivers, Ive tried with Deluge and Qbitorrent no download limit in settings, I have went to properties and switched the speed option to 1gbs and back to auto, I've disabled Mcafee completely, reinstalled windows, ran TCP optimizer, reset TC/IP, reset winsock, tried different CAT6 cables, different ports from the router & nothing changes. Something on this computer has to be capping the torrent download because downloads from the browser are fast other computers are downloading the same file fast wifi and ethernet. Please help this is driving me crazy.
Title.
I tried to seed them for sealer hours and nobody joined.
But with other stuff it's much easier to find someone to seed to...
I've been using qBittorrent but looking at the peers on some of my active torrents, there are a wide variety of clients being used. Transmission, Deluge, Tixati, some with weird unreadable characters, etc.
I was wondering if the main difference between these is just adverts, functionality, and UI, or if there are some inherent differences in the capability. For example the Tixati homepage claims "ultra fast downloading algorithms". Does that mean your download speed is affected by your choice of client? Is this something I need to worry about very much? I'm not a power-user or anything, I just manually select the files I want from various sites using magnet links and I use a Windows 10 PC. Most of my client settings are default.
What kind of advantages would there be to actually putting time into this?
Hey so I'm having a strange issue with my rTorrent/ruTorrent setup where I have a group of torrents I recently added (consequently all the same tracker) that are stuck in the 'paused' status. I have tried, stopping and restarting, force re-checking, deleting torrent+data and re-adding the torrents. I feel kind of dumb, but I feel like it's a permissions thing, but I've added torrents from other trackers and they start fine. I have also force re-checked other torrents from the same tracker, stopping and starting and they don't have any issue. But all new torrents stay 'paused' from that same tracker. Now I don't think it's the tracker, because all torrents aren't having any connection errors.
I am running Debian with rTorrent as a systemd service that runs as user rTorrent, a system user. I have around 5000+ torrents in this instance, I've had more in the past but never run into this issue. I download the torrent files locally to my laptop/desktop and I have an rsync script to push the files over ssh to their designated 'watch' folders on my server, from there the torrents are loaded into rTorrent. I somehow suspect it could be a permissions thing, in which case I'd feel stupid, so maybe someone can give me a sanity check? Or maybe a ruTorrent plugin?
All torrents are downloaded to /storage in the root directory, which is a mergerFS+SnapRAID setup. rTorrent runs as a system user named rTorrent with no group, this runs as a systemd unit. There's over 30% available space on each data disk, and no hard drive errors (SMART tests and snapraid disk monitoring). I have Plex, Airsonic and some other stuff set up for streaming, these are all docker images which run as a normal user UID:GID 1000:1000. The files need to be accessible from a normal user.
Permissions I've tried:
rtorrent:administrator (GID 1000) 777, 755
rtorrent:root 777,755
administrator:administrator 777, 755
root:root 777,755
Issue: Newly added torrents stuck in 'paused' status
OS: Debian 9.12
rTorrent: 0.9.6
ruTorrent: 3.9
rTorrent.rc: https://pastebin.com/gA00e7Nb
UPDATE: Turns out one of my data disks had 100% inode usage. I actually accidentally found this out by simply trying to create a directory on my mergerFS filesystem and it throwing an error.
I used this to help pinpoint where the issues were. https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/117093/find-where-inodes-are-being-used
Once I cleaned up the inode usage, everything started running normally again!
I’m trying to torrent a series that’s quite obscure, very poor peer to seed ratio, if there are any seeders or peers at all. Is there anything i can do to get the download to work or is it pretty much a dead end? (I use utorrent because I’m pretty new to the torrent world.)
Hi I would like some recommendation for a Torrent Client for Ubuntu
I have some thing that I would like the Torrent Client to be able to do:
Renaming the Files and Folders when adding the torrent like in Transmission
Set specific paths for certain files like in uTorrent (so for example if I want to use another folder structure as the original Torrent. I know for example Transmission doesn't let me do this)
The ability to see the parts of the files that are downloaded, still downloading, corrupted like in uTorrent.
Ability to see how many Seeder/Peers (and maybe also Leecher) there are for one Torrent like in uTorrrent
Stable when seeding 300-600 Torrent (not all actively seeding at the same time) and downloading 10-20 torrent at the same time
(Optional) Possiblity to add some RSS feeds and choose some torrent from that
(Optional) If I install the same Client on my Windows Machine I would like to be able to control my Client on my Ubuntu Machine as is it was the same client (the Machines would be in the same Network) So no need for an Web Client
EDIT: Also if it is possible to quickly migrate my existing torrents from Transmission this would be great
Blocking by ISP is not a problem for me
Thank in advance for your help
So after spending some time searching for controversies around bit comet being a shady torrent client, I am not sure if I should change it. I like the simplicity and the layout, I like that it works with magnet downloads (hey there utorrent) and there are no intrusive ads. As a matter of fact, ESET blocks even the standard ads and I am left with the best experience.
But I hear that under the hood they are doing some shady stuff regarding sending usage data to their servers, cheating with upload sizes etc.
I left utorrent because their client was full to the brim with stupid and intrusive ads, and it was also sooooo reasource heavy. I had to use an old version 1.8 in order to escape their new crappy client experience.
What should be my main concerns about the fact that this has been my torrent client of choice for the past 3+ years ?
So I've been sailing the open seas since I was in diapers, but I don't keep up with the scene aside from the occasional visit.
I've noticed within the past few weeks, maybe a month even, that big and popular torrents are down to a measly 2 seeders. What before was one or ten THOUSAND - at two.
Anyone else see that, or is it only me?
I'm having speed issues so I want to reinstall BitTorrent but I don't want to lose all my active downloads
I know this is must be a really common topic but after 10+ years of using the same client im left wondering if im missing something.
Ive been using uTorrent 2.2.1 for as long as i can remember. Is there anything better? If so, why is it better?
Thank you all for any responses.
*PS- if i do change clients, do i just select the folder where the torrents are so i can keep seeding?
I have been torrenting forever, but only recently started downloading multiple torrents at a time. For example, I'll start to download 12 movies, 5 of them start the download, the others are queued. Usually the first 4-5 of them downloaded really quick, 1+ Mb/s. However, as soon as those are finished, the remaining files slow to 1 kB/s or less... Restarting the computer solves this issue, but only for the next 4-5 torrents. This happens with a bunch of older torrents and a bunch of new torrents with thousands of seeds, so it doesn't seem that peers or seeders are the issue? I think!
I have performed a speed test with all this going on and it shows 300 Mbps for the internet, which I know doesn't translate to downloading torrents, but it's not my internet as far as I can tell.
Hopefully this is allowed! I haven't seen any posts with this particular scenario. Thanks for any help in advance!
I am using BitTorrent and downloading from Kickass, YTS or PB, if that makes a difference
VirusTotal doesn't detect anything but I'm still suspicious
I'm running rTorrent/ruTorrent on my Unraid server. When downloading 1 torrent I will see speeds of like 30MB/sec. But as soon as the # of active torrents increases, my speeds plummet to KB/s.
My server specs are:
Xeon E3-1276 version 332GB RAM
Can anyone help?
every torrent i tried to download just keep stuck at connecting to peers can someone help please. thanks
How can this be? It might be because I updated it but I don't know.
So i am using Qbittorrent and i have a 300MBps connection. I am trying to download about 3-4 torrents at a time but it seems my bandwidth is spreading out and all of the torrents are downloading very slowly and it takes days. If i download one at a time and pause the others it will download very fast about 20/MBps +. Is there a way to make it where all of my torrents will download just as fast ?
I've been using private trackers for over a decade now. But have just joined a few new ones and I want max out my upload speeds as much as possible and to connect to as many peers as possible. I was using utorrent 2.1 for years, and recently jumped to qbittorrent and now run both (seeding only for utorrent) (download/seed qbittorrent) but want to make sure I keep my uploads consistent and fast. I have maxed out speeds on everything, and have a couple hundred torrents in utorrent and about 150 in qbittorrent. So long story short is seeding that much hurting or helping or it doesn't matter?
TLDR: Seeing couple hundred torrents is it hurting my connections and upload speeds to different private trackers?
