This (in my opinion) is a rare case. Ive known this individual since birth, and Ive been able to watch this transformation up close. It was one of the oddest set of circumstances I've ever seen. Growing up together, he was a generally ordinary kid although he was a bit more enthusiastic about things like transformers, Pokemon, and other such things when other kids generally weren't at that age. We lost contact for a few years, and lets call him "One", and I met back up in highschool. It was very apparent he had gone through some... "dramatic" changes. He had gained about 300 pounds, and had grown to a towering 6 foot 6. And yes. He had a neckbeard. I was introduced to his group of friends, which turned out to be a nice group of people I am still friends with today, however, "One" still held many if not all of his interests from his youth, and did so publicly. Transformers and Pokemon were frequently brought up to anyone who would listen, and his stench of axe body spray mixed with stale B.O. would assault your senses upon contact. Being around his was generally not that bad after he I sat down his brother and got him to convince "one" to shower. This however changed in the next year. Because much to our horror he picked up "Undertale" and took it far beyond the boundaries of what that video game should be able to go. He began his obsession with he fandom, followed by wearing a "Sans" outfit to school, topping it off with going into graphic detail about his "fantasies" involving some of the characters. It soon became an issue that couldn't be ignored. The same group of friends and I did our best to console him and talk to him about some of his habits and social skills, however he would be thrown into a fit of rage and would not listen, but he would instead pretend to be a TV character such as Ben 10, a Power Ranger, or Sans from Undertale, and pretend to blast us away with his "powers" before turning and stalking off. It took a few months before we were able to get him to back off some of us behaviors, but when that fell, something new took its place. I was not going to post this, but last week he took up the "fedora and trench coat" look, and has almost entirely been enveloped by the stereotypical Neckbeard persona. Tipping the Fedora, responding with "M'lady" and pretending to be far smarter than everyone around him despite his 1.3 GPA and his lack of understanding of basic reading material. Im curious to see how far this goes, but also horrified of how badly this can escalate. If you would like me to keep you all updated on this individual or go into more in depth stories of some of his most memorable moments just let me know.
One of the most interesting things I’ve read in a long time... It happens to so many but it’s rare you hear from one of their old friends. Please tell us more if you can!

Awesome, looking forward to it!
Mate, he might be autistic
I was thinking the same thing myself.
Surprisingly. He is not. His family confirms it. He’s just an extremely lazy and dumpy individual.
Hey don’t lump us Lazy people in with his lot
I'm interested in more stories and how he became what he is.
alright will do!

He will languish at a community college for maybe a year or two, then move into his parents’ basement and retreat further into his fantasy world.
