I might get downvoted to oblivion for this, but I don't think racism will ever truly go away. With each generation racial tolerance and the want for equality has increased. Despite this, there will always be a group that wants to oppress another. The new movement doesn't seem to be about equality anymore, it seems like they want white people (straight white males in particular) to feel as though they are in the bottom rung of society for once.

True. Throughout human history, groups of people thought they were better than another group of people, why would it change now?

It’ll be less about race but there will always be in-groups and out groups that is true.

This is definitely not true. Gen-X was much more egalitarian and against bigotry then the succeeding generations, each becoming worse then the last as far as racial tolerance.

Contrary to popular opinion political correctness, which has increased, can lead to less tolerance. Political correctness is the acceptence of political rhetoric over evidence based reasoning. Note, this isn’t an attempt to characterize any particular politically correctness issue as right or wrong but this is just what the term literally means. political correctness as opposed to, say, scientific correctness or whatever. The term comes from an old communist joke about being correct according to state propaganda instead of using common sense. Anyway, today’s political correctness in the west is largely informed by the politics and philosophies of the French new left brought back to life after nearly a century during the 60s. This is important mainly because understanding this can help clarify why white as a concept is actually being attempted to be marginalized, or as you say put on the bottom rung.

It’s not actually an attempt to give white people as a group their own medicine. This has always just been a reductionist view. The quick version is that when critical race theory, a criticism of legal theory, hit the mainstream it was wildly misinterpreted. CRT uses the word white in a very traditional sense. See, white as a reference to race doesn’t come from skin color it comes from an adaption of the Spanish cast system color wheel, which was the well from which all systems of racism have sprung. White means pure, and whites in America where called white as in how pure they were to Anglo Saxon Protestants. That’s why Catholic and Jewish people weren’t called white back in the day. So when CRT refers to white it means part of the general culture homogeny of European Americans. But when we say white today we just mean people of European decent. This has caused a lot of confusion. When the post new left radicals of the 60s began their fighting against normalcy, and this is at the heart of the radical left today, it got all muddled up with race. So European people became synonymous with whiteness and thus are often the targets of people moved to fight against normalcy picking them as their targets.

When you've been top of the heap since forever, I suppose that acknowledging others' demands for equality can feel like oppression

Doesn't mean it's true though

Speaking of which, we are talking about the Torygraph, so the headline needs to be taken with a grain of salt. It's a right-wing newspaper, so it's full of "political correctness gone mad!" stories. The truth may not be anywhere near as lurid

When you cut funding to education, people remain ignorant and easily manipulated... Some groups don't want people to learn or be knowledgeable of the situation at hand, else how will they remain in power?

Dang that is deep

How exactly did they hurt themselves in confusion? I don't think they didn't consider how this would be discriminatory. I think they did and they want to discriminate against white people, they're not confused, just hateful.
