About the Center

The Arthur B. Robinson Center on Climate and Environmental Policy at The Heartland Institute is an independent and authoritative source of research and commentary on a wide range of environmental issues, including climate change, air and water pollution, public health, and energy policy. It has assembled a world-wide team of leading scientists and economic experts to participate in the production of books, videos, monthly and weekly publications, events, government relations, and other activities. For more about the Center, visit the About page.

Our Position on Climate Change

The Center supports continued research on the causes and effects of man-made climate change. The views of Heartland’s spokespersons and many of the experts it works with are well summarized in these documents:

The Global Warming Crisis Is Over
An Action Plan for President Trump
Five Elements of a Pro-Energy, Pro-Environment, Pro-Jobs Plan
Comments, Petitions, and Testimony Opposing the Endangerment Finding

Events

The Center has organized scores of events, including 13 International Conferences on Climate Change since 2008 attended by nearly 5,000 people. In 2017 and 2018, Heartland and nearly two-dozen cosponsors hosted the first two America First Energy Conferences. Visit our YouTube channel to watch highlights from those event, Trump administration folks (and a few others) praising Heartland at the conference, and a video featuring Donald Trump speaking about energy that opened the event.

The Center frequently reprints and distributes the best work produced by other think tanks on climate change and other environmental topics. Two recent reprints are an Interview with Prof. William Happer and a speech by former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbot.

Nongovernment International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC)

The Center partners with the Science and Environmental Policy Project (SEPP) and the Center for the Study of Carbon Dioxide and Global Change to support the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC), an international network of climate scientists, engineers, and other experts. Originally created in 2003 by Dr. S. Fred Singer as a “Red Team” to fact-check the reports of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), NIPCC evolved in the world’s preeminent “Red Team” in the climate change debate.

NIPCC produces and The Heartland Institute publishes the Climate Change Reconsidered series of digests of scientific research on climate change. Written with the assistance of more than 50 climate scientists from around the world, the series has been cited more than 100 times in peer-reviewed articles and praised by leading climate scientists from around the world. Another volume in the series, addressing the benefits and costs of fossil fuels, is currently in production.

The Center has posted hundreds of videos featuring experts on climate change and other environmental issues on its YouTube channel. It educates the public via its blog at Freedom Pub and via Twitter and Facebook. It also produces podcasts on environment and energy topics with leading experts and people in the news.
