About the new channel design

In the middle column of the topbar, there's the channel avatar, username and a few buttons here: https://projects.invisionapp.com/d/main#/console/18532170/396329346/inspect

but in this mock, there's the search input: https://projects.invisionapp.com/d/main#/console/18532170/400020222/preview

Where should the toggle be for the search input to appear?

Are other designs page designs (like the newsfeed) going to have a different middle column in the topbar, based on where you're at?

Please refer only to https://design.minds.com/hosted/web/michael/front%232148-navigation/ for the high-level web designs. The channel page referenced to was a WIP, so please ignore it.

To try to answer your question, most screens will follow a 3-column layout, where search is contained in the top middle, as shown here -> https://design.minds.com/hosted/web/michael/front%232148-navigation/

However, some sections may not required a globally accessible search input. Settings is one such section. Ref: https://design.minds.com/hosted/web/michael/front%232153-settings/

The designs for search/discovery, channel and groups are all still works in progress, but I hope to get these sections finalised ASAP. This will give you greater clarity.

In the meantime, if you've any further questions please let me know.
