A 0.100 m solution of which one of the following solutes will have the lowest vapor pressure?

A 0.100 m solution of which one of the following solutes will have the lowest vapor pressure?

A) KClO 4

B) Ca(ClO 4)2

C) Al(ClO 4)3

D) sucrose (a sugar)

E) NaCl

I have no clue how to do this. my initial thought was that the greater the molar mass the lower the vapor pressure. Sucrose has the highest molar mass so i thought it would be D, but the correct answer is C

The lowest vapor pressure is determined by the compound that breaks up into the most molecules. In this case sucrose, the sugar contains no electrolytes, and therefore cannot breakup. However, Al(ClO4)3 can break up into 4 molecules, 3 of ClO4, and one of Al. This is also a higher number of molecules than the other choices.
