Like many aspects of the French approach to Libya, the reasons why Macron - during a visit to Warsaw - would say that he hopes for ‘greater defense cooperation with Poland over Libya’ are not immediately clear

In order to sustain their strategy of Francafrique the French have been drawing EU institutions and partners into deep involvement Sahel, West and Central African states for 30 years. What Paris is struggling with though is that now they all want a say in how that strategy is run

Biryani aficionado;
The fact there is so much speculation & debate (except in the French public conversation oddly) over what France is doing in Libya & why shows how opaque its maneuverings there have been & how to many - incl some puzzled French officials - the rationale is unclear or misguided.

commemorating three dead ALF as YPG/SDF. America knows this, but it is ok as they are just sending car bombs to kill Arab children and women.

On the contrary Assad, Iran and Russia will be capable to engage even more forces to their next offensives. As the frontline gets smaller their superiority in might keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Time is against Turkey. Should Idlib fall the regime and his allies will attack North Aleppo. Turkey will find no additional ally. On its side it will only have the Syrian Rebels decisively weakened by months of uneven combat in Idlib. Weakened in number, equipment and moral.

The Assad coalition is now at the gate of Idlib city. Either way the next few hours will be decisive in the conflict. Idlib is to north Aleppo what the Ghouta was to Daraa : if it falls the Assad and his allies will soon launch an offensive on what is until now a spared region.

#Syria: about half-million people are preparing to flee #Idlib-city & nearby areas once pro-Assad forces will advance. It would be biggest civilian displacement the country ever witnessed over a short period of time.

#Syria: undeterred by arrival of #TSK past days in Saraqeb, pro-Assad forces continued their advance today. They cut off strategic M4 Highway & are now 8 km from #Idlib-city.

Ah I see it's that time we all expected where Turkey, which was so upset with the US's lack of sympathy for its concerns, learns that Russia won't even pretend to care about them.
