Why is it bad to use expired contact solution?
I have rigid gas perm contacts and was wondering why conditioning solutions expire after around 90 days after opening?
Is it still safe to use after it "expires"?

It is "safe" but probably less effective. If you continually use the expired bottle, impurities may not get cleaned off the contacts as well and you could eventually have issues. You are not really getting your money's worth if you use an expired bottle because the solution isn't going to clean the lenses as well as an unexpired bottle would.

Because they supposedly lose the strength of the properties contained in the solution. You can probably safely use the expired solution for a week or so after the expiration date. You should check with your eye specialist to be sure that it is safe to use. Just call his/her office.

The chemicals used in it will be weaker and less effective at removing dirt and other garbage so it won't clean your lens as well as an unexpired bottle.
