The Rutles - Archaeology

Perhaps I'm wrong in thinking this, but, did Neil get shafted on any credit on the song "Knights Of The Round Table" from "Spamalot!"?

 

The best part is that eventually Eric Idle sued himself...just because.

 

OH NO, the mere mentioning of The Rutles (shh) could herald the return of...

 

That and Salman Rushdie talking about the ****e Album. Otherwise, yeah, it's awful and the album is wonderful.

 

Can I mention ****take mushrooms?

 

Fun fact - Neil's line "I can't pretend to be someone who pretends to be someone else, or so my pretend friend tells me" was a direct jab at Eric.

 

No, Innes gets royalties for that song, and for "Brave Sir Robin." However, in Spamalot Idle deliberately altered the monks' chant (originally written by Innes) to avoid paying royalties to him for that. And when Innes offered to write new songs for the show, he was rebuffed by Idle.

 

Well...that tears it!

Innes also came up with the distinctive whistling hook in "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life," something one might argue deserved a songwriting co-credit. Idle clearly did not think so, though.

 

Some great tunes on here, though not the equal of the first one.

 

Too bad they can't release that 'mash-up' Rutles album, "CASH", you can hear deep in the heart of the internet!

Dunno about that, but I remember this out the same day as the Beatles' Anthology 3.

 

According to sources, he is the fifth most-liked member of Monty Python.

And as Graham Chapan is no longer with us, that leaves us with only five remaining members, so . . .

 

Idle wanted to change credits to "McQuickly/Nasty" on a few songs.
