Sending warships in order to solve a dispute between two partners in the neighborhood as a first step is not very European. Unless you want Europe to return to the pre-WWI world. How about organizing talks instead?

Turkey is denying the legitimacy of the republic of Cyprus, a member state of EU, and is deliberately violating its sovereignty on its maritime ressources. No negotiation would be possible without strong European solidarity with the weaker side.

We should all send warships to support Greece. Its about the geopolitical chess of energy for whole of EU. President Macron does well in supporting that.

It’s so bizarre to think that this is would be even remotely controversial. Why wouldn’t the Union protect its own territory, especially on its external borders?

Article 42.7 of the EU Treaty. “If a Member State is the victim of armed aggression on its territory, the other Member States shall have towards it an obligation of aid and assistance by all the means in their power.”
