Poetry has been defined as “that which cannot be translated.” This poem cries out to be translated - into action. Powerful, moving, urgent.

“The greatest threat to the communities built on coal, oil, and gas jobs, is not emission targets, but rather the government’s total lack of a plan to transition to new opportunities as global demand for fossil fuels declines.”

Huge step: Steelmaker SSAB will bring CO2-free steel on the market by 2026, speeding up from earlier goal of 2035. The firm's entire production will be converted to hydrogen direct reduction by 2040, single-handedly cutting CO2 by 7% in Finland and 10% in Sweden.

I’m delighted to hear @Sainsburys is leading the way for UK business by pledging to go carbon neutral, backed by significant investment. We must all work together to achieve Net Zero emissions. twitter.com/sainsburysnews

Together, we've been through a lot lately. This #AustraliaDay we want to recognise all who have worked so hard to protect communities. And we want to thank everyone for supporting one another when times are tough. Let's celebrate what makes Australia great. #ausday #nswrfs

As Trump melted into the background at Davos, Ursula von der Leyen spoke of a scheme that has received a staggering lack of attention given its potentially huge ramifications for emissions reduction policy. Expect to hear a lot more about this big idea.

You can’t scroll social media without seeing an article on “getting back into school routine.” But it did make me think we need a “back to school” blog for parents of senior school students. So here goes the teenager edition. (Blog by @StCathsPosPsy) bit.ly/BackToSchoolTe

Thank you to these brave Americans who died keeping Australians safe. Our love and condolences are with their families and with families of all those killed in these terrible fires. The courageous service of the firefighters is a shining inspiration of love and selflessness.

Climate change is making extreme weather worse in Australia, which is already taking its toll on our natural ecosystems, health, economy, & more. These impacts are occurring at 1° warming. We are heading for a world of 3-4°. We must act now, or the impacts will be 'unimaginable'.

The NEG wasn’t abandoned by my Govt. Given a minority of our MPs were threatening to cross the floor and vote it down, Cabinet resolved to retain the policy but not submit the Bill until we were more confident of the numbers. It was formally abandoned by the Morrison Govt.
