Did you replicate? Needs to be replicated before adding as bug. And if this is true it must be fixed this week.

@ottman : I can't replicate (I don't have Android), but I have additional information about this: it only applies to media stored on the SD card, not to media stored on internal memory

Bill tested this for me and could not replicate using his SD card.

Both of the members in the above post notice a pattern involving images from SD cards failing. It may not be solely that that is responsible though.
