#Libya It is accurate to use "all sides" - this is not the first time that oil terminals were shut down or attacked. In March 2017, forces loyal to GNA attacked oil terminals & took control for a week, before Haftar's counter-attack to recapture them.https://twitter.com/emad_badi/status/1218854577023393795?s=20…

Gotta love how "all parties" became a subtle way to refer to Haftar now. https://twitter.com/YorukIsik/status/1218853526874591233 β€¦

My tweet referred to the impulse to use all sides to refer to Haftar - whether it's the contemporary blockade on oil (that the statement comes against the backdrop of), targeting ambulances or other colourful acts. I think it's clear there's a pattern in that regard.

As for the narrative that this blockade is orchestrated by tribesmen, it's ironically disproved by the own evidence you present. The fact this was threatened last year & not carried through shows that the person responsible for the blockade & enabling it now is Haftar.

Not at all - my point was that the closure of oil terminals is a popular demand and calls for the shutdown has been there for a while. Haftar like Jathran and others before him, could and has instrumentalized this to push for certain demands in #Berlin. #Libya

No he hasn't instrumentalized it - he enabled it & could undo the blockade regardless of whether there was popular support for it or not. The attempt to portray this blockade as symptomatic of Eastern grievances is not just analytically incorrect, it's actually disingenuous.

I disagree with you - this blockade is absolutely symptomatic of eastern grievances that continue to be ignored time and again. Unless addressed, Haftar and others who will come after him will continue to instrumentalize this. #Libya

Well your disagreement is not worth much. I presented you with hard facts. This blockade could be undone tomorrow if Haftar obtains his personal political concessions - irrespective of the "Eastern communities grievances". Haftar only weaponizes the latter & offers no solution.

What you present here as facts are just opinions that are detached from the reality on the ground in the east. Again, the issue of oil has always been there long before Haftar's emergence. It is not linked to Haftar or how he instrumentalizes it. #Libya

I didn't present an opinion. You are saying the blockade is symptomatic of Easterners grievances & using a 218 video as proof. I am pointing to the fact that the grievances indeed existed but that the enabler of the blockade - & person that weaponized said grievances - is Haftar.

And btw, you're conflating 2 separate issues. I never said the problem with distribution of oil income never existed. I am saying in this particular instance, this blockade isn't a symptom of Eastern communities' grievances, that's all. Anyway, I'll take @Nafussa's advice.
