Have you ever inserted a picture into Word, placing it exactly where you want it, only to find out later that it is now in a different place? Well believe it or not, you do have complete control over where your picture is located and where it stays.
If you are working in Word 2002 and later, use the steps below to position your graphic.
- Insert the picture into your document.
- Click the picture once so it is selected.
- From the Format menu, click Picture. The Format Picture dialog box appears.
- Click the Layout tab.
- Choose any of the available Wrapping options (except In Line With Text).
- Click the Advanced button.
- Verify that Picture Position is selected.
- Under Horizontal choose Absolute. Set the picture to be the desired number of inches to the right of Page.
- Under Vertical choose Absolute. Set the picture to be the desired number of inches below Page.
- Verify that the Move Object with Text check box is not selected.
- Close any open dialog boxes.
If you are working with previous versions of Word, the steps are going to be slightly different.
- Insert the picture into your document.
- Click once on the picture to select it.
- From the Format menu, click Picture.
- Select the Position tab.
- Use the drop down arrow under Horizontal to specify the desired number of inches from the Page.
- Use the drop down arrow under Vertical to specify the desired number of inches from the Page.
- Clear the Move Object with Text box
- Close any open dialog boxes.
