That's an excellent summary of the first part. It's not just consumerist, it's small scale capitalist. EG: small ironic t shirt companies.

I'm having a bit of trouble wrapping my head around exactly what the difference between "Metafacisim" and regular facisim is.

But if we have people taking on the trappings of facisim for the sake of irony, that's hillarous in and of itself, ala hipster hitler.

Since we have actual facisits here, I'd also like to see them weigh in on it.

The metapolitically fascist thing threw me for a loop as well. My sense from the article is that in rejecting a counter-culture of resistance, hipsterdoms conformity and acquiescence to authoritarian ideas with little genuine criticism means that perhaps they find nothing offensive in adopting "metapolitically fascist" ideas. The charge of "Edgy" is certainly something that did not exist even a decade ago, or at least the word meant something different.

I think this is about the broader culture of the millennials and not just SJW. Many millennials do not identify with SJW ideas, but are nonetheless steeped in - what this writer calls I guess - a metapolitical fascism? It's a "counter-culture" that is not counter but conformist, eclectic. SJW is one of many cliques that could be spawned from this.

I'm not sure if I agree entirely but it's something I'll have to think about more.
