    They may not be master strategists

    So maybe next time don’t listen to the people who said the U.S.’s killing of Qassem Suleimani would somehow “restore deterrence,” or that Iran would be cowed into inaction by the threat of overwhelming U.S. force.

    Little known fact: between his political career in exile and his time in post 2003 Iraqi politics, PM Adil Abd al Mahdi was a model for stock photos. He still brings out some of the classic poses, including "businessman on the phone."

    From 11:45 to 14:10 the PM says that the letter notifying of the US withdrawal was received formally (twice after the translation was edited) and it’s considered official notice and the government will work on that basis and not media comments

    As an indicator of how publicly invested Putin is in Syria, this is his second trip there in a few years. The only previous Russian or Soviet state visit to Syria during their 75-year relationship was by Medvedev in 2010, when Putin was prime minister.
