Does it work for you? It happened on Xbox One for me. GTAV+Xbox One: you can steal a plane from the military base without an enemy jet/rocket spawning behind you if you look backwards for a long time when taking off and flying away. If it matters, I think you didn't covered this.

If u let D Man out of the van so he gets hit by a train or so he falls off of a very tall cliff then he will survive since he is sorta invincible or has a huge amount of health in that GTAV mission. I learned this at least one year ago. Probably hasn't been patched.
