Our initial review shows that people want to know if they’re viewing manipulated content and they support Twitter labeling it. In the coming months, we’ll finish reviewing responses and finalizing the policy before we make another announcement 30 days before it goes into effect.

What’s synthetic and manipulated media? It’s media that’s been significantly altered or created in a way that changes the original meaning/purpose, or makes it seem like certain events took place that didn’t actually happen.

We’ve also made updates to our reporting flow, to do our part in reducing the stigma around suicide. Now, reporting a Tweet that suggests someone intends to hurt themselves will no longer need to be reported as abusive content.

Twitter fosters a space for difficult conversations. Last year we rolled out a feature that connected people with resources when they searched certain terms related to suicide and self-harm, and we are expanding that today to more languages and countries.
