    - International Zone forces have created a buffer between protestors and the Embassy. Protestors have built camps around the embassy to protest the killing of 20 Iraqi troops by US airstrikes against Iraqi bases against ISIS near the border.

  11. Some more photos. Even regular Army troops (in desert cammies) are present now, a few of them were also visible in Kaldani's video as well.

  12. Always funny when people are like "guhhh who are these people?" to spread fear in media. Situation was controlled from the beginning and some damage to the compound wall doesn't change that.

  13. By the way you can literally see the Army SF soldiers standing on line to block the entrance. We can stop the fearmongering now.

  14. Here's the Iraq Army Special Forces Division logo, on the Lieutenant Colonel's uniform.

  15. This is accurate. Anyone who followed the protests from the beginning would know that Tahrir Square made it abundantly clear that they wanted nothing to do with the Green Zone. This is exactly why groups that did went on to gather at Wathbah and Khalani. Today is different though

  16. Even in the Brigade 50 commander's video, you can see that the SF troops are actively blocking the entrance to the Embassy grounds. PMF seem to have accepted this and are instead showing up for photos. Hence why Kaldani is there.

  23. This is what happens when journalists start acting like activists. It's common sense that this has nothing to do with the "October Revolution" and western media knows that. You're just trying to downplay the fact that these are mostly civilians who came from a funeral.

  24. Why do people make it an effort to grossly underestimate these situations?

  25. How is he overseeing the storming of the Embassy when he and the rest of the leadership decided to show up AFTER the families chose to go there on their own? Even if they gave 'withdrawal orders' the civilians in the mix wouldn't leave.

  26. Speaking of which, some of the protesters already started setting up tents. So unless the situation is able to be defused within the next few hours then this could last a few days.

  27. Iraq Army Special Forces Division is blocking any new force entering the Green Zone to prevent a clash with the protesters. Like I mentioned in other threads, 56th Brigade has the security file for the Green Zone.

  31. No truth to ICTS receiving tasking to respond to the Embassy crisis, this is not part of their mission guidelines. Current response to situation is being treated like Crowd/Riot Control so this is a MOI tasking.

  36. There's always a Security Forces detachment from the Marines at the Embassies but we'll see what happens next. These guys are trained for this kind of scenario but even then it's unpredictable.
