    Ever since 2011, Russia has regretted allowing the UNSC to approve the no-fly zone exploited by NATO to bomb Libya and topple Gaddafi. Floating the idea of a new NFZ, only to be rejected by Lavrov, is a show of support by Italy's PM Conte to GNA allies, but makes him appear naive

    Migrants cross the sea to Europe from the Tripoli area of Libya, controlled by GNA militias -- and that's where this EU money goes. Under the guise of helping migrants, the EU funnels money to GNA militias through the UN, spawning more misery.

    Breaking: AP finds the EU has sent 328 million euros (with more on the way!) to militias, human traffickers & coast guard who exploit in , enabled by the UN & funneled through UN agencies. The money is often laundered in & flows back to militias in Libya.

    The EU has sent hundreds of millions to Libya to deal with a migration crisis. That money is making militias rich, an investigation has found.

    : We have a very bad association with the idea of declaring a no-fly zone over ... started bombing Libya after the made a similar decision... a better option would be pushing the Libyan warring parties toward an end to hostilities.

    FM Lavrov of , which has veto power in the : 'NATO started bombing when the UNSC declared the air above Libya a NFZ... they used that resolution, they violated it and started bombing Libya... the rest is history... best to avoid making the same mistakes.'

    She’s been mocked for her follow-on tweet (“civilians may be better off living under jihadist groups”). But this is true: ‘While Idlib burns, Syrian fighters in Libya fight for Turkey in exchange for dollars. The term "jihadist" fails to describe them. "Mercenaries" is more apt.’

    Similarly, the SNA fighters now in Libya found a way to justify fighting in a war far from home. While Idlib literally burns, they are fighting for Turkish interests in exchange for dollars. The term "jihadist" fails to describe them. "Mercenaries" is a more apt description.

    Turkey-Libya GNA agreement came across as nothing but a gesture of defiance, but adding troops to the mix is a different ballgame. If Turkey's side loses in Libya, the maritime accord will be moot, so there is a lot at stake for Erdogan in this proxy war.

    Libya in simple terms: U.S./NATO intervention left a power vacuum resulting in civil war and Islamist control of Tripoli. The MB side of the war currently has the GNA, Libyan AQ (LIFG), a cocktail of militias, & foreign MB supporters Turkey & Qatar, all united against Hafter/LNA.
