Channel UX
Actions for Web
-
The banner height should be proportional to the view height using
vh
(view height) instead of pixels. Doing do will bring the rest of the page content further up the screen. - Explore the creation of a set of stylized banner placeholders.
- Limit the length of channel bios.
- This could be achieved by showing the first 5 lines say by default, and then allowing for a see more option. Or we could limit the character count when adding/updating a bio.
- Bio text should be left-aligned, making the bio easier to read.
- Any badge (e.g. Verified, Minds Plus, Admin etc) should be located next to the channel name.
- Introduce a specific area in the profile that displays only premium content.
- This could provide a compelling means in which to ask users to donate in order to receive the content.
- Users should be given some indication of what the premium content is. In order to entice the user to donate, they should be given a sneak peak, which should give them more encouragement to donate should they wish to receive it.
- As the user scrolls, a bar should be affixed to the top of the screen contain basic channel info and all important CTAs such as Subscribe, Donate/Wire.
- The subscribe CTA and other similar actions should be fixed to the top of the screen, so as they scroll, these actions are always visible. This would include Send a Wire CTA, as well as other metrics like subscriber count.
- After subscribing to a channel, the button should simply say Subscribed. T- [ ] he feed portion of the channel page should follow a similar structure that is being proposed for the newsfeed i.e. inheriting a more space efficient layout.
- Develop a more purposeful Rewards area. It should be more prominent.
- If a user sends tokens for a reward, it should be followed up with an automated correspondence. E.g. An email is sent immediately after wiring tokens, detailing when/how the reward can be redeemed.
- Investigate the possibility of combining photos and videos under the umbrella of Media. In social media applications like Instagram and Twitter, videos and images aren’t separated by type. Following such an approach may further simplify the UX.
- Introduce a clear tabbed navigation at the top of the channel, allowing the user to sort by content type. E.g. Blog, Media, Premium Content or All. Doing so will simplify the UX. It will promote blogs (normally displayed in the sidebar) into the main content stream. The introduction of a premium tab allows the opportunity to up-sell users.
- The media viewer could be contained within a modal, laid on top of the channel page. A- [ ] ny post that is linked/shared, should be viewable within the content of the authors channel, and not in isolation. It should be made easy for any incoming user to view other posts, and learn more about the author. T- [ ] he user should be able to navigate more channel media by navigating left and right.
- If the user closes the modal, they will see the channel page itself, containing all other channel content, as well as all important CTAs like subscribe, wire etc.
