Many of these returns are not voluntary and none of them are safe. There are many documented cases of Syrians being arrested upon return. Shame on all of these governments.

When I was a student 20 years ago, the forced depopulation of entire regions by airstrikes and artillery fire was considered an issue that was worthy of ferocious global debate. Now it's considered a matter of routine barely worthy of mention in media or public discussion

The slaughter in Idlib isn't news. The extermination of up to a million Syrian Arabs isn't news. The crushing of democracy by fascism and imperialism on the eastern Mediterranean isn't news. 'Kurds' is news. So is 'jihadis'. And so is 'refugee crisis'. Fuck the news.

This tweet perfectly encapsulates the moral rot that's at the core of the "anti-war," "anti-imperialist" left. They don't give a single care for human beings, or victims of state terrorism. They care only about the actions of a single perpetrator, namely the United States.

Turkey has the power to stop this. America has the power to stop this. Where are all the western journalists who screamed about NE Syria? The only reason 10,000 more Syrians are facing death, imprisonment & displacement is because their lives are viewed as less worthy.

  34. The post at Surman has been effectively surrounded as the roads to it are cut. This is the 2nd observation post to be enveloped in this way. The observation posts - greeted with such optimism by many Idlibis - have turned out to be redundant in the face of Russian intransigence

  35. Al-Tah has been overtaken by the regime; the fact that the town fell with little to no resistance tells its own story. Opposition have seen the writing on the wall.
