Nominations for Statistics of the Year 2019 and Statistics of the Decade 2010-19 are now closed
Our Statistics of the Year competition celebrates interesting and insightful statistics that sum up important issues of the past year. Last year's winners covered a fascinating range of topics including plastic waste, solar power generation and ‘shrinkflation’ and the competition secured tremendous media coverage.
This year, we'll also name our Statistics of the Decade, recognising stand-out statistics that capture the zeitgeist of the last ten years.
We have a judging panel comprising eminent statisticians, journalists, economists, environmental scientists and pollsters, chaired by the RSS's vice president for external affairs, Professor Jen Rogers. The panel will decide on the winning and highly commended Statistics of the Year on 19 December, with Statistics of the Decade to be announced soon after.
