I can relate the two flights I took to LA to visit my friend Charlena. We had been talking online for about a year when I decided to souprise her by buying her concert tickets for a band she loved and getting her back stage passes to meet them. I only wanted to make her happy, but she wanted me to visit. It ended up being a two month visit, punctuated by me coming back home long enough to check on things, pay bills and go back.
I dressed feminine on my trip. On one trip down, I wore a cute pink top and feminine shorts with the cute bling design on buttoned back pockets. Smoothly shaved as always and open toed sandals to show of my toe nails. I was in full makeup. I have long hair, so I had no wig. Other than the TSA fondling my breasts a little bit, there were no issues. I had mistakenly thought that by dressing so casual, I wouldn't need to go through any groping. Otherwise, I emptied my purse and laptop bag as they expect you to to.
The one thing I recall from the trip was walking into the men's room. I'd rather use the women's room, but I've always tried to be respectful of cisgender women who get offended. One time a lady threw a fit because I was trying on the three dresses I was buying at JCPenney, so I decided only use the mens no matter how I'm dressed. I don't like the idea that guys come on to me (not that I'm opposed to a hookup), and I'd be more comfortable around women. I just don't want anybody upset.
This is why I would try to avoid public restrooms unless they had lockable doors. In this case, an attendant says, "Miss, the ladies room is on the other end." I was happy to be told that, but I explained that I didn't want to make any women uncomfortable. Plus, there's always the chance it turns into an ugly public scene.
Hi, CandiGurl! Thank you for relating your stay with your friend Charlena. What band did you two go see? It wasn't VNV Nation by any chance, was it? Teehee!
I'm glad you were able to dress femininely on your trip! It sounds like you had some nice femmy fun!
Regarding using public restrooms, I dress en femme full-time and I always use the lady's room. I've never had any problem with it, and no genetic female has ever seemed bothered by it. I choose the facilities that will cause the least social friction, as I'd cause far more of a stir if I were to use the men's room.

Speaking of VNV Nation, everyone, below is a very pretty music video by them. "VNV" stands for "Victory Not Vengeance".
